Wildcat Summer - Jill Conry
8/3/2019 10:00:00 AM | Women's Soccer, Academics
Hi Wildcats! My name is Jill Conry and I'm a senior on the women's soccer team from Bolton, Mass. This summer I'm lucky enough to be interning for Ernst and Young's assurance service sector in Boston. Working in the city and for a Big Four accounting firm has always been a goal of mine and I am so grateful to have been given this opportunity. Keep reading for the scoop on my Wildcat Summer!
MY INTERNSHIP

As an assurance intern I've had the opportunity of working with several of EY's audit teams and clients this summer. Not only do our teams work at the firm's Boston office, but also at the clients' offices in and around the city for on-sight work as well. Getting to travel to and interact with clients is one of my favorite parts of working at a public accounting firm and I've already learned so much from these experiences. I also really enjoy the fact that everything we do is in teams. As an athlete having a good team dynamic is so important and it's something I can honestly say is true of all the audit teams that I've been a part of at EY so far.
EARLY MORNING WORKOUTS

My dad also works in Boston so I'm lucky enough to be able to commute with him into the city every day. We leave our house very early (5:15 AM!) so that we can get a morning workout in at the Prudential Center before heading to work. While waking up this early is definitely something I've had to get used to, I'm so grateful to have such an active dad and to be able to get my workouts in at the beginning of the day when I'm not too tired.
WORKING WITH FELLOW WILDCATS

One of the best parts about interning at EY has been working with fellow Wildcats! There are about 15 of us from Paul College interning at the Boston office this summer in tax and assurance services. Being at such a big firm can be a little overwhelming at times and I can't tell you how much seeing a familiar face every now and then has helped me with the transition. All of the UNH interns actually had a breakfast event put on for us where we could not only network with each other but with UNH alumni who hold management and partner positions at EY as well. It's so cool to see how successful they've become since graduating from UNH and makes me excited for what the future could hold.
TRIP TO DISNEY
At the end of our eight-week internship, all of the EY interns from across the world will have the opportunity to travel to Orlando for a week for the firm's International Intern Leadership Conference. There, we'll get to participate in workshops and team challenges, and even be able to go to a Disney Park! I'm so excited not only to travel to Orlando but also to meet EY interns from all over the world and hear about their own unique experiences with the firm.
WRAP-UP
I've learned so much from this experience. Even more so, I'm confident that my desire to pursue public accounting at a Big Four firm has only grown this summer. I'm so grateful for this opportunity!
