#20 Wildcats Tie Vermont; Will host Stony Brook on Saturday

DURHAM, N.H. – Freshman Conrad Cheng (Oslo, Norway) scored the equalizer 16 seconds after Vermont's goal with his first collegiate goal as the No. 20 University of New Hampshire men's soccer team tied Vermont, 1-1, at Wildcat Stadium on Wednesday evening. With the tie, the Wildcats conclude the regular season with a 11-2-4 record (4-2-1 AE). The Catamounts are now 10-7-1 overall, and win the regular season America East championship with a 5-1-1 record.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Ivar Orn Arnanson sent a pass from 20 yards out to Jon Arnar Barddal, which gave Vermont a 1-0 lead in the 40th minute (39:22), when he knocked the ball into the net from five yards out.
- Just 16 seconds later, Cheng sent the ball in from the corner, which deflected off a Vermont defender to the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1. Senior Will Rasid (Wilbraham, Mass.) assisted Cheng's first collegiate goal.
- Neither team was able to score in the second half, as the game went to overtime.
- In the 94th minute, graduate student Robin Schmidt (Cologne, Germany) sent a header from six yards out that was saved by Vermont goalie Aron Runarsson as the game remained tied through overtime for the 1-1 draw.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The Wildcats outshot the Catamounts 11-5. UNH had six shots on goal while Vermont had two.
- The Wildcats took 10 corner kicks, while the Catamounts had zero.
- Graduate student Andrew Pesci (Windham, N.H.) made one save, while Runarsson recorded five.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- The goal by Cheng was the first of his collegiate career.
- UNH takes the #3 seed in the America East Men's Soccer Tournament.
