UMBC Kicks Off America East Conference Play

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team is set to kick off conference play against the University of Maryland Baltimore County on Sunday, September 25 (1 PM) at Bremner Field.
New Hampshire (3-4-2)
Last time out: The 'Cats fell to Northeastern by a score of 2-1 on Sunday. The Huskies jumped out to an early 2-0 lead by scoring goals just three minutes apart. Just before the half, junior Brooke Murphy (Monson, Mass.) cut the deficit to one on a beautiful free kick from the top of the box. Freshman Liz Lane (Porter, Maine) tallied two shots on goal and senior Mimi Borkan (Medfield, Mass.) recorded six saves in net.
Who to look for: Murphy leads the Wildcats and all America East players with 13 points (6 goals, 1 assist). Borkan leads the league with 6.44 saves per game and holds a .829 save percentage. Freshmen trio Maddie Murdick (Bulington, Conn.), Caroline Wysocki (Agawam, Mass.) and Megan Rumbold (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) have started the last six games together in the back line along with junior Kendra Prince (Ajax, Ontario).
UMBC (4-5-0)
Last time out: Five different goal scorers led the Retrievers to a 6-1 victory over Robert Morris on Thursday night. Redshirt-senior Alexa Quaranta led the team with five points (2 goals, 1 assist). Ten different players on the UMBC roster earned a point in the decisive victory.
Who to look for: Quaranta leads the Retrievers in goals (4) and points (10). Junior Gabby Boehmer was named the America East Co-Player of the Week after recording two goals in the Retrievers' 3-1 over Delaware State last week. She sits in second place on the team in goals (3) and points (7). Freshman Nikki Saad also has seven points (2 goals, 3 assists). In goal, sophomore Leah Roth holds a 1.41 goals against average and a .780 save percentage.

The Wildcats enter the all-time series with an 8-3-3 record against the Retrievers. Last year, UMBC came out on top with a 2-0 victory at home. In 2014, the Wildcats ousted the Retrievers from the America East tournament by way of penalty kicks in the semifinal game. The Wildcats' last regular season victory against UMBC game in 2012.
