Women's Soccer And Wake Forest Set for ESPN3 Battle

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team looks to regain its winning ways against host-school Wake Forest University on ESPN3 Sunday, Sept. 4 (2 PM) in the Demon Deacon Challenge.
TD Bank Classic Review
The Wildcats improved to 2-0-2 last weekend after a win over Central Connecticut State University, 3-0, and Manhattan College, 1-0 in overtime, at the TD Bank Classic Tournament. Junior Brooke Murphy (Monson, Mass.) earned Tournament MVP after scoring two goals in the final game with a total of seven shots between both games. Sophomore Kelsey Davis (Washingtonville, N.Y.) scored a goal against CCSU while freshman Megan Kikosicki (East Haven, Conn.) buried the game-winner against Manhattan. Senior captain Mimi Borkan (Medfield, Mass.) was named America East Player of the Week after two shutouts with a total of 10 saves on the weekend.

UNH will travel to the College of the Holy Cross on Sunday, Sept. 11 (3 PM) before returning home on Thursday, Sept. 15 (7 PM) to take on Harvard University.
Scouting New Hampshire
Murphy and Kikosicki lead the team in points (four) and goals (two) through the first four games. Murphy also ranks first in shots (14) and shots on goal (seven). Borkan has started each of the four games in goal, tallying 25 saves and only allowing 0.22 goals per match. The senior captain has saved 96.2% of the shots that she has faced, and recorded three shutouts in the first four games. UNH has only allowed one goal to its opponents while scoring five in four games.
Shutout Strong
Borkan currently is tied with 13 goalies in the NCAA with three shutouts this season for the country lead. Her and one other goaltender has accumulated 406 minutes of action with three shutouts to top the list. Brokan has a total of 21 career shutouts for UNH and tied the single-season total of nine in 2014.
Friday, September 2: Gardner-Webb University (0-2-2) – 5PM
The Wildcats were held scoreless in the game and fell 1-0 in overtime to the Runnin' Bulldogs. Borkan made 11 saves on the day.
Sunday, September 4: Wake Forest University (4-0-0) – 2PM - ESPN3
Spry Stadium - Winston-Salem, N.C.

Sophomore Bayley Feist ranks second in points (six) and goals (three). She is also second in shots on goal (five). Junior goalkeeper Lindsay Preston has played in all four of the Demon Deacons' games this season, and saved 92.3% of the shots that she has faced. She has allowed 0.29 goals per game, and tallied two shutouts thus far. Wake Forest has outscored its opponents 10-1 in the first four games, averaging 2.50 goals per game. WFU is coached by Tony Da Luz who has led the team for 19 of the program's 22 seasons.
