DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team will face off with Colgate University on Sunday, August 21 (1 PM) at Beyer-Small '76 Field in Hamilton, N.Y.
New Hampshire (0-0-1)
Last time out: UNH tied 0-0 with Siena College to open up the 2016 season. Sophomore Gaby Dorsey (Hubertus, Wis.) led UNH with four shots, three on goal. Goalkeeper Mimi Borkan (Medfield, Mass.) earned her first shutout of the 2016 season, 19th career, with four saves.
Who to look for: Borkan has started 2014, 2015 and this season with shutouts to increase her career total. Sophomore Sydney Griffin (Hindsale, Ill.) finished off game number one with four shots after earning her seventh career start.
Colgate (0-0-1)
Last time out: Colgate battled Syracuse University to kick start their season with a 1-1 tie. Mara Cosentino, coming off the bench, scored for the Raiders in the 43rd minute on a loose ball in the box after Syracuse buried a goal just 45 seconds into the game. Goalkeeper Kelly Chiavaro led the game in saves with eight total.
Who to look for: Cosentino led Colgate with two shots, both on goal in the season opener while Martina Loncar, Leah Lewis and Sarah Coy each recorded a shot. Coy finished the 2015 season tied for second on the team in points (eight) with three goals and two assists.
Series info
The Wildcats look for their first win against the Raiders, who holds a 2-0-1 record in the all-time series over the Wildcats. Colgate last bested UNH in 2013 with a 2-0 win at the University of Vermont in the TD Bank Classic.
Freshmen Starters
Freshmen Liz Lane (Porter, Maine) and Caroline Wysocki (Agawam, Mass.) earned the nod from head coach Steve Welham in game one as starters. Lane finished with two shots and controlled the left side of the field with her ball control. Wysocki started in the back and was aggressive and helped keep Siena shots to a minimum.
