BOSTON – Senior midfielder Abbi Maier (Cincinnati, Ohio) of the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team has been named the Co-America East Midfielder of the Year, along with earning All-Conference First Team and All-Academic Team accolades for the first time in her career. Senior captain Maddie Kolb (Tolland, Conn.) was selected to the All-Conference Second Team, while freshman back Abby Beasley (Fishers, Ind.) was picked to the All-Rookie Team.
Maier is now the third student-athlete in program history to win Midfielder of the Year as Caroline Murray (2015) and Caitlin Whelan (2007) also earned this honor.
Maier led the team with a career-best six goals and 14 points as she also added two assists. She is tied for third in the conference in goals and tied for fifth in points. Earlier this season on Oct. 13, she was named the America East Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career. As a freshman in 2022, Maier was selected to the America East All-Rookie Team and won America East Rookie of the Week on Sept. 19. She posted 17 goals and seven assists for 41 career points. Her 17 goals are 10th all-time at UNH.
Maier made the All-Academic Team with a 3.98 GPA as a Health Sciences major. She is a three-time America East Commissioner's Honor Roll recipient (2022, 2023 & 2024) and a two-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team selection (2023 & 2024).
Kolb earns her second straight All-Conference selection as she was named to the First Team last year. The 2024 America East Defender of the Year, Kolb had another outstanding season as the anchor of the defense as she started in all 17 games and was a strong leader as the captain of the team. As a freshman in 2022 she was picked to the All-Rookie Team and was a member of the 2024 United Soccer Coaches Division I All-Atlantic Region Third Team.
Beasley started in all 17 games on defense with one goal and three assists for five points. She was named the America East Rookie of the Week on Oct. 6 as she scored the game winner with her first collegiate goal in the 1-0 win versus UMass Lowell on Oct. 2 in the 84th minute. Beasley's three assists tied for second on the team and eighth in the conference.
UNH went 3-0-5 at home for its first undefeated season in Durham in five seasons when the Wildcats went 5-0-0 in 2020.
