WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Devon Croke (Norwell, Mass.) scored a career-high three goals as part of a personal-best four-point effort to lead the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team to Wednesday afternoon's 9-7 win against Monmouth University at Monmouth Stadium.

GAME RECAP

Trailing 4-3 at halftime, UNH opened the second half with three consecutive goals to take a 6-4 lead. Marissa Gurello (Manorville, N.Y.), with the assistance of Laura McHoul (Westwood, Mass.), began the run at 26:44. Croke scored unassisted goals at 26:03 and 19:29 to put the Wildcats in front.
Monmouth pulled within one goal twice – 6-5 at 18:27 and 7-6 at 15:22.
Croke helped give the Wildcats their largest lead of the game when she set up a goal by Krissy Schafer (Longmeadow, Mass.) at 14:33 and netted her third goal of the game at 9:33 to push the advantage to 9-6.
The Hawks closed within 9-7 on Marial Pierce's goal at 6:28. Monmouth recorded three shots the rest of the way, but none were on target.
Carly Wooters (White Plains, N.Y.) gave UNH a 1-0 lead at 26:32 of the first half.
Pierce scored consecutive goals at 25:26 and 22:04, then Olivia Higson scored the first of her two goals to give Monmouth a 3-1 lead at 15:53.
McHoul and Catherine Sexton (Niskayuna, N.Y.) leveled the score, 3-3, with tallies nearly 10 minutes apart – at 14:37 and 4:43.
The Hawks took a 4-3 lead into the locker room on Higson's strike with 40 seconds left in the first half.

UNH NOTEBOOK

This was the first ever meeting between these programs.
This was UNH's first road win of the season. The Wildcats had lost at UMass, Dartmouth College and Harvard University.
UNH limited Monmouth to the second-lowest total by an opponent this season.
Wooters extended her goal streak to eight games with her one tally.
McHoul extended her point streak to eight games with a goal and two assists. She has six assists the past two games; in comparison, she totaled five assists the first six games.
