This Year the SEC:
UNH ventures into the SEC to take on Kentucky. Last year, the Wildcats played a pair of games against ACC schools. They lost at Boston College, 71-51, on Dec. 13 and then threw a scare into North Carolina before falling, 65-60, on Dec. 27.
Scouting Kentucky:
The University of Kentucky women's basketball team (2-0) is coming off a 70-46 win against defending America East champion University at Albany (Nov. 12). The Wildcats shot 37.9 percent to Albany's 25.4. Senior 6-foot-3 forward Evelyn Akhator took the top spots in both points (28) and rebounds (13) against Albany. She averages 23 points and 11.5 rebounds per game, which are both team-highs. Senior guard Makayla Epps is averaging 18.5 points, 5.5 assists and 2.5 rebounds through the first two games.
Kentucky beat No. 14 Miami, 82-66, in its season opener. The Wildcats moved up four spots in the Associated Press poll this week to No. 15. Matthew Mitchell is in his 10th season as head coach. Last year, he led the Wildcats to a 25-8 record. It was the sixth time in his nine seasons Kentucky has had at least 25 wins.
