DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team will face off against the University of Vermont on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 2 PM on Bremner Field for its Think Pink game and #AEFoodFrenzy exchange.
New Hampshire (6-4-2, 3-0-0 AE)
Last time out: New Hampshire defeated University of Hartford, 3-1, to remain undefeated in America East play. Sophomore Gaby Dorsey (Hubertus, Wis.) finished a rebound off the Hawk keeper to put her goal streak up to two games. Leading point getter for the 'Cats Brooke Murphy (Monson, Mass.) added a goal and assist, and freshman Liz Lane (Porter, Maine) added two assists. Junior back Veronica Hardy (North Smithfield, R.I.) recorded her first career goal. UNH is the last undefeated team in the America East with 3-0 record in conference play.
Who to look for: Murphy leads the Wildcats, and all America East players, with 19 points (eight goals, three assists). Borkan is second in the league with 5.67 saves per game and holds a .840 save percentage, fourth in the league. Lane has started all 12 games this season and leads the 'Cats with four assists to go along with two goals, which gives her eight points thus far.
Vermont (6-5-1, 1-2 AE)
Last time out: The Catamounts were defeated 2-0 by the Stony Brook University Seawolves. Junior Coco Speckmaier saved three shots for the Catamounts, but their offense was unable to find the back of the net. As a team, Vermont totaled 8 shots, but only two were on net.
Who to look for: Freshman Julia Smith leads the team with five goals for 10 points. Junior Sarah Martin is second on the team adding two goals and two assists for 6 points. Goalkeeper Coco Speckmaier has started all 12 games this season, and is tied, with UNH's Mimi Borkan (Medfield, Mass.), for the league lead with four shutouts and a 1.05 goals against average.
