Second-Half Push, Quality Chances Nearly Enough in AE Semis

ALBANY, N.Y. – Senior Mimi Borkan (Medfield, Mass.) made five saves in her final collegiate game as the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team fell 1-0 to the University at Albany in the semifinal round of the America East Championships at Bob Ford Field Sunday afternoon.
At the Buzzer
With time winding down, the Wildcats had a corner kick in the final seconds. The kick was taken and junior Kendra Prince (Ajax, Ontario) connected on the header near the top of the box. The header finished top left and looked to tie it up as time expired, but the clock struck zero with the ball in the air and the refs signaled no goal.
Second-Half Swing
The Wildcats dominated play in the second half with six or seven quality chances that were near misses. With 35 minutes to go in the fin the game, Brooke Murphy (Monson, Mass.) ripped a free kick from the left side that sailed past the right post almost tying it up. Several corner kick chances were corraled by the Great Dane keeper at the line. With 20 minutes to play, freshman Kaylan Williams (Marion, Ind.) took a shot from about 30 yards out that went right past the right post and almost in. Just 10 minutes remaining, freshman Megan Kikosicki (East Haven, Conn.) had a chance at the door step with the left foot that rolled on the ground to the keeper. UNH fought throughout the second half, nearly sending it to overtime in the final seconds.
