KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior Caroline Murray (New Canaan, Conn.) of the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team was selected to the 2015 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-East Region Third Team, announced by the NSCAA on Monday.
Murray was the only member of the America East to be selected to either the first, second or third team. The announcement comes after Murray was recently named to the 2015 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association Division I All-New England First Team (Dec. 18). Murray holds a 3.54 grade point average while studying psychology.
Murray collected the honor after a stellar season with the Wildcats. The Connecticut native earned America East Midfielder of the Year after leading the league in assists with eight. She was an All-Conference First Team Selection as well as an All-Academic Team honoree. Murray also notched 10 points this season on one goal and eight assists. After the season, Murray was named to the NSCAA All-Region Third Team. The senior was also selected for the 2015 NEWISA Senior Bowl, which features seniors from schools throughout New England representing all three NCAA Divisions.
The Wildcats finished the season 6-9-4 overall and 4-4 in conference play after winning the program's first America East championship during the 2014 season. UNH's defense of the title was undone after an America East Championship Quarterfinal loss to the University of Maine, 1-1, in penalty kicks. UNH statistically dominated the game with a 22-10 shot advantage as well as a 7-2-corner kick advantage. In the overtime periods, the Wildcats outshot the Black Bears 4-1.
