Kyra Smith, a senior from Littleton, Colorado, backboned the UNH women’s hockey team to last weekend’s 1-0-1 record against Rensselaer by stopping 41 of 43 shots for a 0.96 GAA and .957 save percentage.
Kyra stopped 20 of 21 shots in last Sunday’s 4-1 victory against the Engineers. She blanked the visitors in both the first and second periods with three and five saves, respectively, then made 12 stops in the final frame.
One day earlier, Kyra made 21 saves in the 1-1 tie, and the only goal allowed was on the power play.
Kyra has a 2-4-1 record with a 1.86 GAA and .937 save percentage in seven games (all starts) this season. She made a career-high 40 saves earlier this month against nationally-ranked Northeastern University.
New Hampshire returns to action this weekend with a home-and-home series against Merrimack College. The teams face off at the Whittemore Center on Nov. 30 (7 p.m.) and MC’s Lawler Rink on Dec. 1 (4 p.m.).
