Men’s Hockey Falls to Merrimack

Felix Gagnon scores first collegiate goal
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Freshman forward Felix Gagnon (Jonquière, Quebec) scored his first collegiate goal but the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team fell to Merrimack, 5-1, on Saturday evening at Lawler Rink in the Hockey East opener for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats fall to 1-2-0 (0-1-0 Hockey East), while the Warriors improve to 2-1-0 (2-1-0 Hockey East).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Gagnon opened the scoring with an early attack at 19:01 of the first period when senior captain Morgan Winters (Osprey, Fla.) found Gagnon in the front of the net to tip it in.

- Merrimack tied the game shortly after when Parker Lalonde received a pass at the right circle by Trevor Hoskin, to match the score at 13:04 in the first.
- MC took a 2-1 lead at 12:44 of the first period when Hunter Mayo at the top of the blue line passed the puck across to Filip Nordberg who found Nick Pierre at the front of the net to rebound it in.
- The Warriors extended their lead 3-1 at 12:15 of the first when Parker Lalonde had a breakaway to score a shorthanded goal with his second goal of the game.
- Nolan Flamand took the Warriors lead to 4-1 on a power play when he nudged in a one timer from Seamus Powell from the point at 7:19 of the second period.
- Merrimack extended their lead 5-1 when Parker Lalonde scored from the front of the net on an empty net, unassisted.

- The Wildcats went 0-3 on the power play, while the Warriors went 1-4.
- Senior goalie Kyle Chauvette (Goffstown, N.H.) made 19 saves, while Max Lundgren tallied 20 saves to earn the win.
