Poulakis' Four Goals Fuels UNH Past UMass Lowell, 7-0

The four goals and eight points both mark career highs for Poulakis. Senior captain Tasmin Cookman (London, England) and junior captain Kathelijne Knuttel (Groningen, Netherlands) both recorded a goal and two assists.
Poulakis and Cookman both scored career goal No. 50 as Poulakis increased her total to 51 and Cookman to 50.
Sophomore Faye Meijer (Purmerend, Netherlands) finished with a goal and assist. Junior Addison MacNeil (Brentwood, N.H.) was credited with two assists and sophomore Kay Murphy (Wrentham, Mass.) had one assist.
Sophomore goalkeepers Abby Johnson (Walpole, Mass.) and Kerigan Ross (Baltimore, Md.) combined to shut out the River Hawks. Johnson made two saves in 54:32 and Ross did not face a shot in her 5:28 relief stint.
UMass Lowell starting goalie Veerle Mous stopped 9 of 14 shots on goal through three quarters. In the fourth quarter, Megan MacMiller allowed two goals and made two saves.
UNH extended its winning streak to three games to improve to 7-5 overall and 2-1 in America East. UML is now 7-6, 2-1 AE.

FIRST QUARTER
- UNH recorded a 3-1 shot advantage but neither team recorded a shot on goal in the scoreless opening 15 minutes.
SECOND QUARTER
- New Hampshire generated an 11-2 shot advantage with a 3-0 edge in penalty corners to outscored the hosts 2-0 in the second quarter.
- The Wildcats converted a corner into a 1-0 lead at 17:50 when Poulakis scored off a rebound in front of the cage.
- In the 24th minute, Mous make a kick save on Meijer's shot from the middle of the circle kick save. Moments later, Mous made a blocker save to deny Cookman.
- On a quick counterattack, Murphy's long hit from midfield was corralled by Poulakis at the 25. She broke in alone at the top of the circle and fired a low shot past the charging Mous inside the left post to give UNH a 2-0 lead at 24:07.
THIRD QUARTER
- The 'Cats continued to pressure in the third quarter with a 7-0 shot advantage that produced three more goals for a 5-0 lead.
- Poulakis initiated and finished the scoring sequence to extend the lead to 3-0 at 37:04. Her entry pass from the right wing was corralled on the near side of the circle by Cookman, who dodged to the endline and slipped a no-look between the legs centering pass to Poulakis and she lifted a shot into the cage.
- Poulakis scored her fourth goal of the game to push the margin to 4-0 at 39:11. On a corner, MacNeil inserted the ball to the top of the circle, where Knuttel sent a return pass low to MacNeil. She swept the ball to the front of the cage and Poulakis one-time shoveled the ball in for the tally.
- Cookman scored 66 seconds later to give UNH a 6-0 lead at 40:17. From midfield, Cookman raced past a pair of defenders inside the 25 on the right wing. Meijer collected her pass at the top of the circle and moved the ball to the middle, where Knuttel swept a shot to the right of Mous and Cookman redirected a slow roller into the cage.
FOURTH QUARTER
- New Hampshire continued to carry play with an 8-1 shot advantage in the final 15 minutes.
- UNH converted another corner into a 6-0 lead at 50:54. MacNeil inserted the pass to the top of the circle, where Cookman stopped the ball and Meijer ripped a low shot inside the right post.
- Knuttel closed the scoring at 57:05 when Meijer stole the ball just outside the circle on the left wing. She advanced into the circle and sent a pass toward the middle, where the charging Knuttel slid on both knees to redirect a shot inside the left post.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- Poulakis extended her point streak to nine games with Friday's four goals. She has 14 goals and seven assists for 35 points during the streak.
- Poulakis has factored in multiple goals each of the past five games and in seven games this season.
- Knuttel has scored a goal in eight of the last nine games.
- Both Knuttel and MacNeil recorded a personal best of two assists for the third time this season.
- Meijer has factored in multiple goals in a game four times this season.
- Cookman matched her season high of four points.
- It was the first career assist for Murphy.
