Poulakis Scores Two Goals at Boston College

Junior captain Kathelijne Knuttel (Groningen, Netherlands) and sophomore Faye Meijer (Purmerend, Netherlands) were both credited with an assist.
Sophomore goalkeeper Abby Johnson (Walpole, Mass.) made seven saves and allowed six goals in 38:49. Classmate Kerigan Ross (Baltimore, Md.) stopped 4 of 6 shots on goal in 21:11.
BC was led offensively by Alex de Cain (two goals, one assist) and Eva Kluskens (one goal, two assists). Carine van Wiechen was credited with six saves while three Eagles – Caroline Chisholm, Martina Giacchino and Laila Rosenquest – made a defensive save.
UNH, which entered the game on a three-game winning streak, is now 7-6 while BC is 5-9.

FIRST QUARTER
- BC generated a penalty corner 45 seconds into the game and converted it into a goal and 1-0 lead when de Cain and Giacchino set up Maeve Seeger.
SECOND QUARTER
- de Cain scored goals at 18:43 and 20:40 to quickly transform a one-goal game into a 3-0 advantage.
- Knuttel's shot beat van Wiechen at 27:12 but Giacchino made the defensive save to preserve the three-goal lead.
THIRD QUARTER
- BC struck four times in the third quarter to build a 7-0 lead.
- Before that outburst, Tasmin Cookman (London, England) fired a shot past van Wiechen at 34:53 but the defensive save was made by Rosenquest.
- Madeline Leigh opened the second half scoring at 35:40 and was followed by Melea Weber at 36:51, Madelieve Drion at 38:49 and Sophia Sisco at 40:08.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Eva Kluskens scored at 49:22 to push the lead to eight goals.
- Poulakis scored her first goal of the game at 51:05. Meijer corralled a loose ball at midfield, raced down the middle and chipped a pass ahead to Knuttel, who tapped the ball into the circle. Poulakis, from the penalty stroke dot, struck the bouncing ball with force inside the left post.
- Meijer was denied on a defensive save by Chisholm at 56:20.
- UNH was awarded a penalty stroke at 56:27. Poulakis calmly lifted a shot high to the left side of the cage to advance the score to 8-2.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- Poulakis extended her goal streak to four games and point streak to 10 with Sunday's pair of goals. She has 16 goals and seven assists for 39 points during the streak.
- Poulakis has factored in multiple goals each of the past six games and in eight games this season.
- On UNH's career leaderboard, Poulakis climbed to #3 in goals (53) by surpassing Whitney Frates (2008-11) and Meg Flatley (2012-15), both of whom tallied 52 career goals.
- Poulakis is also #4 in career points (134) and #5 in career assists (28).
