Women's Lacrosse Drops Home Opener to Dartmouth

DURHAM, N.H. — The University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team fell to Dartmouth College (2-0, 0-0 Ivy) on Wednesday afternoon (Feb. 18) at Wildcat Stadium, losing 22-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
1Q
-New Hampshire opened the scoring early in the first quarter, when Kate O'Rourke (Franklin, Mass.) found Julia Gronda (Pompton Plains, N.J.) on the right side of the net, before the senior fired home for her first goal of the season.
-Dartmouth knotted things up just over a minute later, when Charlotte Myers found twine with an overhand try to make it 1-1.
-The 'Cats regained their lead with 5:58 to play in the opening quarter, when Anna Lombardi (Barrington, R.I.) launched an intended pass toward net, beating Dartmouth's Jordan Healy.
-Dartmouth found their second tying score of the quarter with 23 seconds left on the clock with a score from Katie Barr.

-Dartmouth took their first lead of the game just 19 seconds into the second quarter, when Katie Barr made a move on a defender before firing past Emma Crater (Littleton, Colo.) for her second goal of the game.
-The Big Green netted their fourth goal of the game with 13:42 to play, when Fiona O'Keefe took a feed from Charlotte Myers before firing home for her sixth goal of the season.
-Dartmouth earned their third goal of the quarter when Madeline Egan made a move behind the Wildcats' net before firing a shot while falling to the ground, beating Crater for her sixth score of the year.
-The Big Green struck again with 6:06 to play when Egan found Lauren Riley in front of the net, who fired an overhand shot for Dartmouth's fourth goal in nine minutes.
-Dartmouth collected a pair of goals in a 14 second span, with tallies from Annie Small and Etta Coburn pushing the Big Green ahead 8-2.
-Following a couple goals from Dartmouth to end the half, the Big Green took a 10-2 lead into halftime.

-Dartmouth's offense got back to work early in the third quarter, when Katie Barr struck for her third goal of the game, putting the Big Green up 11-2.
-Annie Small collected her second goal of the game with 12:12 to play to further extend the Dartmouth edge.
-Catherine Erb netted a pair of goals while Fiona O'Keefe earned one of her own midway through the third quarter, pushing the lead to 15-2.
-The Wildcats got one back with 2:50 to play in the third quarter, when Erin Fagan (Clarksburg, Fla.) took a feed from O'Rourke before firing a shot into the top corner of the net to cut the deficit to 15-3.
-In the final 1:15, Dartmouth netted two more goals from Samantha Bennett and Katie Torr, giving the Big Green the 17-3 lead through three quarters.

-The Big Green collected their 18th goal of the game 36 seconds into the final quarter on a shot from Kate Riley.
-Dartmouth found the back of the net four more times over the final quarter, bringing about the final 22-3 score.
