Collins Nets First-Career Hat Trick as 'Cats Fall to Quinnipiac

DURHAM, N.H. — The University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team fell to Quinnipiac University (1-2, 0-0 MAAC) on Sunday afternoon (Feb. 22) at Wildcat Stadium, losing 12-7.
HOW IT HAPPENED
1Q
-Emma Miller-Ayala opened the scoring early in the game, striking just under two minutes into the game to give Quinnipiac the 1-0 edge.
-The Bobcats doubled their lead 3:27 later on a shot from Cate Bendowski, making it 2-0.
-Quinnipiac closed the first quarter with goals from Julia Givens and Emma Miller-Ayala in the final two minutes to put the Bobcats ahead 4-0.

-Quinnipiac further extended their advantage early in the second quarter, with a pair of strikes from Giordan Peck putting the Bobcats up 6-0.
-With 10:30 to play, the Wildcats broke onto the scoreboard, when Charlize Collins (Burlington, Mass.) fired the ball past Shannon Alden to cut the lead to five.
-The Bobcats regained their six-goal edge just 39 seconds later on a score from Peyton Choma.
-Collins netted her second goal of the game and third of the season with 6:42 to play.
-Quinnipiac found their fourth goal of the quarter in the waning minutes of the half, when Mia Delmond connected.

-New Hampshire found their third goal of the game 5:18 into the third quarter, when Dale Meskill (Keller, Texas) fired a pass from behind the net, finding Libby Boland (Victor, N.Y.) in front, who then beat Alden for her team-leading fifth goal of the year.
-Quinnipiac broke back onto the scoreboard with 4:34 to play, when Emma Miller-Ayala found the back of the net on a free position shot for her third score of the afternoon.
-The Bobcats netted their second free position goal of the quarter, when Brie Provenzano found the back of the net, putting Quinnipiac ahead 10-3.
-Boland netted her second goal of the quarter with 1:46 left to play, cutting the deficit back down to six.
-Just 12 seconds later, Charlize Collins netted her third of the game, completing her first career hat trick.

-With 10:12 left to play, Quinnipiac found the first goal of the fourth quarter, when Mia Delmond got one by Emma Crater to make it an 11-5 contest.
-New Hampshire got a pair of goals back late in the quarter, with strikes from Rose Pavuk (York, Maine) at 5:55 and Julia Gronda (Pompton Plains, N.J.) at 1:04 to trim the lead to four.
-With eight seconds left to play, Quinnipiac's Anna Givens found the back of the net on the man-advantage, bringing about the final 12-7 score.
