Zwack, Pavuk Score Four Goals Apiece in 18-17 Loss to Binghamton

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior Rose Pavuk (York, Maine) and freshman Sarah Zwack (Weston, Conn.) scored four goals apiece, but the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team was edged 18-17 by Binghamton University at Wildcat Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The four goals marked a career high for both Pavuk and Zwack, and the four points was also a personal best for Zwack. Senior captain Allie Connerty (Norwell, Mass.) finished with a goal and two assists while both junior Julia Gronda (Pompton Plains, N.J.) and sophomore Erin Fagan (Clarksburg, Md.) scored two goals.
Piper Boudreau (Chelmsford, Mass.), Makayla Keys (Fairport, N.Y.), Dale Meskill (Keller, Texas) and Kate O'Rourke (Franklin, Mass.) scored UNH's other goals.
Freshman goalkeeper Ellie Thomas (Needham, Mass.) made nine saves.
Binghamton was led offensively by Emma Blloshmi (six goals), Carla Curth (2g, 3a) and Jess Robinson (2g, 2a). Starting goalie Sofia Salgado made seven saves and allowed 15 goals. Maeve Sayre, who played the first 5:22 of the second quarter, surrendered two goals and was not credited with a save.
UNH moves to 2-12 overall and 0-6 in America East while Binghamton is now 5-9, 2-3.

FIRST QUARTER
- All nine goals scored in the first quarter were on free-position shots.
- Robinson scored 51 seconds into the game to give the Bearcats an early 1-0 lead.
- Zwack and Pavuk scored goals 69 seconds apart at 13:16 and 12:07, respectively, to give the Wildcats a 2-1 lead.
- Curth leveled the score, 2-2, at 10:32.
- Fagan, on a free position from the top-right, scored on a low shot to put UNH back in front, 3-2, at 8:37.
- Blloshmi's first goal of the day forged the third tie of the game, 3-3, at 7:56.
- Keys, on another free position from the top-right, fired a shot inside the near post to once again put the home 'Cats back on top, 4-3, at 5:34.
- From the top of the 8-meter, Pavuk bounced a shot over Salgado into the next to give New Hampshire the first two-goal lead of the game, 5-3, at 4:46.
- Fagan struck again with 30 seconds on the clock to extend the advantage to 6-3.
SECOND QUARTER
- UNH scored twice in the opening 68 seconds of the second quarter to extend the run to five consecutive goals and lead to 8-3.
- In the middle of the fan, Gronda circled back away from a defender and skipped a low sidearm shot into the goal for a 7-3 lead at 14:22.
- Connerty, from the goal line extended on the right side, slipped a pass to the front of the net and Zwack's one-time gave UNH a five-goal lead at 13:52.
- Olivia Muscolino ended the run at 9:38 to lift Binghamton within 8-4.
- On a free position from the left side, Pavuk advanced to the middle, lept into the air and deposited the ball in the bottom-left corner at 5:15 to make it 9-4.
- Binghamton scored at 3:08 and with eight seconds on the clock to trim the deficit to 9-6.
THIRD QUARTER
- The Bearcats scored eight times in the third quarter to take a 14-13 lead through 45 minutes.
- From the left wing, Pavuk cut in front of a defender and scored from the top of the goalie crease to give the Wildcats a 10-6 lead at 13:07.
- Binghamton scored back-to-back goals to close within 10-8 at 10:45.
- O'Rourke, on a free position from the top-left, cut diagonally toward the far post and place a shot inside the right post for an 11-8 lead at 10:04.
- The Bearcats scored three consecutive goals to level the score, 11-11, at 7:15.
- Gronda scored a carbon copy goal as O'Rourke to give UNH a 12-11 lead at 6:27.
- The visitors responded with another 3-0 run to surge back in front, 14-12, at 3:13.
- Zwack corralled Connerty's centering pass, spun off a defender and scored to pull New Hampshire within 14-13 at 1:34.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Both teams scored four goals in the fourth quarter.
- UNH pulled even, 14-14, at 13:56 when Zwack rolled behind the net around the right post toward the middle of the fan, then doubled back and shot inside the left post.
- Blloshmi gave the Bearcats a 15-14 lead at 12:00.
- Connerty, on a free position from the top-right, took a couple of steps and fired a shot into the bottom-left corner to forge the seventh tie of the game, 15-15, at 8:26.
- Christi Mastrorocco and Robinson scored goals 33 seconds apart to give the visitors a 17-15 lead at 7:07.
- Boudreau, on a free position from the top-right, also scored on a low shot inside the far post to lift UNH within 17-16 at 5:42.
- Blloshmi netted a free-position goal at 3:32 to match Binghamton's largest lead of the game, 18-16, at 3:32.
- On a free position from the left side, Zwack advanced to the top of the goalie crease and shot back across inside the left post to trim the margin to one goal, 18-17, at 1:06.
- Blloshmi controlled the ensuing draw and UNH was issued a green card with 56 seconds remaining.
- The Bearcats utilized the player-up advantage to maintain possession the rest of the way and secure the win.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- Connerty and Pavuk both extended their goal and point streaks to 11 games. Connerty has 36 points (23 goals, 13 assists) while Pavuk has 30 points (20g, 10a).
- Connerty is No. 5 on UNH's career assist leaderboard with 76. She has 61 goals and 76 assists for 137 points in 56 games.
- Pavuk surpassed her previous high of three goals established earlier this season at Merrimack College.
- Zwack did not have a multiple-point game prior to Saturday.
- Fagan matched her career high of two goals set in the 2024 season opener at Marist College.
- O'Rourke, Clara Pavuk (York, Maine) and Carly Ross (Annapolis, Md.) led UNH with two ground balls apiece.
- Gronda equaled her career highs in goals (two), points (two) and caused turnovers (two), and also had a personal-best three draw controls. She was also credited with one ground ball.
- Gronda, Clara Pavuk and Paige Kenny (Kensington, Md.) were all credited with two caused turnovers.
- Fagan led all players with seven draw controls, which matched her career high set in the season opener vs. Marist.
- Thomas, who entered the weekend ranked No. 4 in the nation in saves per game, finished with single-digit saves for only the third time in 14 games.
- UNH's 17 goals marked a season high and the Wildcats' highest goal total since scoring 19 in the 2024 season opener at Marist.
