Four Former UNH Wildcats on Stanley Cup Playoff Rosters

Seven ‘Cats played in the NHL regular season
DURHAM, N.H. – Four former University of New Hampshire men's hockey players are currently on 2025 Stanley Cup Playoff rosters.
On Saturday, April 19 at 8:30 p.m., goalie Casey DeSmith (2011-14) and the Dallas Stars will matchup with the Colorado Avalanche at 8:30 p.m. on TNT. He went 14-8-2 with two shutouts during his first season with Dallas after playing for the Pittsburgh Penguins for five seasons and for the Vancouver Canucks last year. For his career, he has a 2.79 goals against average and a .910 save percentage with an 84-61-23 record.
Then on Sunday, April 20, defenseman Brett Pesce (2012-15) and the New Jersey Devils will take on his former team, the Carolina Hurricanes at 3 p.m. on ESPN. He played in 72 regular season games this season with three goals and 14 assists for 17 points. This is Pesce's 10th season in the NHL and his first with New Jersey as he was a member of the Hurricanes for the previous nine seasons. For his career, he has played in 699 games, scoring 42 goals and recording 173 assists for 215 points. Pesce has played in 57 playoff games with a total of five goals and 16 assists.
On Monday, April 21 at 7 p.m. on ESPN, defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk (2011-14) and the Washington Capitals will meet the Montreal Canadiens. He played in all 82 regular season games this season and has tallied one goal and 20 assists for 21 points. He has recorded 25 goals and 122 assists for 147 points over his career. He has played 683 games with the Chicago Blackhawks, the Carolina Hurricanes and the Washington Capitals. van Riemsdyk has appeared in 35 playoff games, recording two goals and two assists for four points. This is his 11th NHL season as he won the Stanley Cup with Chicago in 2015.
Also on Monday, Warren Foegele (2014-15) and the LA Kings will start a first-round series with his former team, the Edmonton Oilers at 10 p.m. on ESPN2. He is currently in his first season with the Kings after spending the first four seasons of his career with the Carolina Hurricanes and the next three seasons with the Oilers. Foegele has appeared in all 82 games this season with 24 goals and 22 assists for 46 points. He has played in 513 NHL games, tallying 104 goals and 105 assists for 209 points. Foegele has appeared in 80 playoff games, recording 12 goals and 12 assists for 24 points. Last season, he played in the Stanley Cup Finals with the Oilers.

Forward James van Riemsdyk (2007-09) played his first season with the Columbus Blue Jackets, posting 16 goals and 20 assists for 36 points over 71 games. He has played in 1,082 career NHL games. Throughout his career he has 327 goals, 338 assists, totaling 665 points between playing with the Blue Jackets, Boston Bruins, Philadelphia Flyers and Toronto Maple Leafs. This was his 16th NHL season.
Angus Crookshank (2018-21) played in eight games with the Ottawa Senators this season with one assist. He most recently appeared with Ottawa on April 15 and he is currently playing with the Belleville Senators of the AHL as they conclude the season versus Laval on April 19. Crookshank has played in 21 NHL games over two seasons with two goals and two assists for four points. Ottawa starts a first-round playoff series versus the Toronto Maple Leafs on April 20.
Andrew Poturalski (2014-16) played in three games this season with the San Jose Sharks with one assist. He previously appeared in three NHL seasons with one with the Seattle Kraken and two with the Carolina Hurricanes. Poturalski leads the AHL this season with 73 points on 30 goals and 43 assists over 59 games.
