Men’s Hockey Drops 4-1 Contest at #14 UConn

STORRS, CONN. – Freshman forward Jacob Newcombe (Sambro, Nova Scotia) netted his eighth goal of the season and senior goalie Kyle Chauvette (Goffstown, N.H.) recorded 33 saves but the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team fell to No. 14 UConn, 4-1, on Thursday evening at the Toscano Family Ice Forum in Hockey East action. The Huskies win the regular season series, 2-1-0.
Tristan Fraser scored two goals for the Huskies.
The Wildcats fall to 14-18-1 (8-14-1 Hockey East), while the Huskies improve to 18-10-5 (12-8-3 Hockey East).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- At 15:28 of the second period, UConn took a 1-0 lead when Tristan Fraser knocked in a one-timer from a pass by Jake Percival.
- UConn increased the lead to 2-0 at 15:20 of the third period as Carlin Dezainde scored on a one-timer from the crease.
- The Huskies then added an empty net goal by Fraser for the 3-0 advantage.
- The Wildcats made it a 3-1 game at 18:54 when Newcombe found the back of the net on a rebound off a shot by freshman forward Sam Oliver (Saint John, New Brunswick) for the power play goal. Freshman defenseman Conner de Haro (Raleigh, N.C.) added an assist on the goal.
- Then with just one second remaining Ryan Tattle scored an empty net goal for the 4-1 final.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- UNH went 1-4 on the power play, while UConn went 1-2.
