DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's hockey team fell to No. 7 Providence, 6-1, on Friday evening at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex in Hockey East action.
The Wildcats fall to 11-14-1 (5-10-1 Hockey East), while the Friars improve to 17-7-2 (12-3-1 Hockey East).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Wildcats took an early 1-0 lead at the 1:57 mark in the first period when Sophomore forward Cam MacDonald (Hammond Plains, Nova Scotia) blasted a one-timer in front of the net off a pass from junior forward Nick Ring (Hingham, Mass) for the power play goal. Senior captain Morgan Winters (Osprey, Fla.) also assisted on the goal.
- Providence evened the score at the 15:41 mark of the second period when Hudson Malinoski knocked in a rebound on the power play to make it 1-1.
- Providence took the lead at the 3:42 mark in the third period when Aleski Kivioja netted in a rebound to make the score 2-1.
- The Friars extended their lead 3-1 at the 4:20 mark in the third with a goal by Will Elger.
- Providence scored when Tanner Adams tipped in a shot at the 9:50 mark to make the score 4-1, then at the 12:49 mark Will Elger scored on the breakaway to make the score 5-1.
- The Friars final goal came on the power play when Logan Sawyer scored at the 16:43 mark in the third period.
