Winters posts three points for the Wildcats
DURHAM, N.H. – Senior captain Morgan Winters (Osprey, Fla.) scored two goals and posted one assist for a three-point game as the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team defeated Boston University, 4-1, on Friday night at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex in Hockey East action.
Junior forward Nick Ring (Hingham, Mass.) and junior forward Marty Lavins (Riga, Lativa) each added a goal to contribute to the win over the Terriers.
Senior goalie Kyle Chauvette (Goffstown, N.H.) made 25 saves to earn the win.
The Wildcats advance to 12-14-1 (6-10-1 Hockey East), while the Terriers fall to 13-15-2 (9-11-0 Hockey East).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Wildcats took an early 1-0 lead 28 seconds into the first period off a cross-ice pass from freshman defenseman Conner de Haro (Raleigh, N.C.) to Winters who fired a shot from the left face-off circle into the top right corner of the net.
- Ring added to the scoreboard less than a minute later with a power play goal at 1:23 off a pass through the crease from Winters for Ring to tip it into the net. Senior forward Cy LeClerc (Goffstown, N.H.) also posted an assist.
- The Terriers answered at 12:55 of the first period, when Ryder Ritchie finished a pass from behind the net with a quick tap-in from the crease.
- Winters struck again at 2:18 of the third period on the power play, burying a slap shot off a pass from freshman forward Felix Gagnon (Jonquière, Quebec) in front of the net. LeClerc added an assist.
- Lavins finished the game for the 'Cats with an empty net goal at 17:27 in the third. Gagnon and freshman forward Jacob Newcombe (Sambro, Nova Scotia) earned an assist.
