DURHAM, N.H. – Sophomore forward Ryan MacPherson scored his first career game-winning goal for the Wildcats and senior goalie Kyle Chauvette (Goffstown N.H.) made 29 saves to record a shutout as the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team defeated No. 19 UMass, 1-0, on Saturday evening at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex in Hockey East action.
The Wildcats advance to 13-16-1 (7-12-1 Hockey East), while the Minutemen fall to 18-12-0 (11-9-0 Hockey East).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Wildcats scored the lone goal of the game when freshman defenseman Ryan Philbrick (Concord, N.H.) sent a pass from behind the net to MacPherson at the left faceoff circle, where he blasted a one-timer into the back of the net at 8:04 of the first period. Freshman defenseman Alex Carr (Sackville, Nova Scotia) was also credited with an assist on the goal.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- UMass and UNH both totaled 29 shots on goal.
- The Wildcats went 0-4 on the power play, while the Minutemen went 0-2.
- Chauvette recorded 29 saves for the Wildcats, while Michael Hrabal posted 28 saves for the Minutemen.
