Three different Wildcats found the back of the net
BOSTON – Sophomore forward Cam MacDonald (Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia), sophomore forward Ryan MacPherson (Windsor, Ontario) and junior forward Nick Ring (Hingham, Mass.) each scored for the Wildcats, but the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team fell to Boston University, 5-3, on Saturday evening at Agganis Arena in Hockey East action. The two teams split the home-and-home series as the Wildcats won 4-1 on Friday in Durham.
Junior defenseman Brendan Fitzgerald (North Reading, Mass.) tallied three assists for three points, while senior goalie Kyle Chauvette (Goffstown, N.H.) made 29 saves for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats fall to 12-15-1 (6-11-1 Hockey East), while the Terriers improve to 14-15-2 (10-11-0 Hockey East).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Terriers took a 1-0 lead at 6:30 of the first period when Brandon Svoboda tipped in a slap shot by Gavin McCarthy.
- The Wildcats tied the game at 11:23 when MacDonald sent a shot from the right faceoff circle to the back of the net off a pass from Fitzgerald. Sophomore defenseman Oscar Plandowski (Halifax, Nova Scotia) also posted an assist.
- At 2:29 of the second period, Cole Hutson fired a shot to the upper glove side corner of the net to give BU a 2-1 advantage.
- BU then increased the lead to 3-1 with a goal by Jack Murtagh at 12:13 as he scored upper stick side.
- The Terriers started off the third period with a goal by Jack Harvey (1:21), but the Wildcats responded when MacPherson tipped in a pass from senior forward Kristaps Skrastins (Grobina, Latvia) to the back of the net at 15:31.
- UNH then made it a 4-3 game at 16:26 when Ring scored on a rebound. MacDonald and Fitzgerald each posted an assist.
- But with 18 seconds remaining, the Terriers clinched the 5-3 win with an empty-net goal by Cole Eiserman.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- BU outshot UNH, 34-27.
- The Wildcats went 1-1 on the power play, while the Terriers went 0-1.
- Chauvette recorded 29 saves for the Wildcats, while Max Lacroix posted 24 saves for the Terriers.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Fitzgerald posted a career-best three assists and three points for his third career multi-point game.
- Ring advanced his point streak to four games as he has three goals and one assist for four points over this stretch.
- MacDonald recorded his second multi-point game of the season.
