Connerty Matches Career High of Six Points in Loss at UVM

BURLINGTON, Vt. – Senior captain Allie Connerty (Norwell, Mass.) matched her career high of six points but the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team was defeated 19-11 by the University of Vermont at Virtue Field on Saturday afternoon.
Connerty finished with three goals and three assists. Sophomore Makayla Keys (Fairport, N.Y.; three goals) and junior Rose Pavuk (York, Maine; two goals, one assist) both tallied three points. Senior captain Abby Hawkes (Amherst, N.H.), junior Julia Gronda (Pompton Plains, N.J.) and sophomore Erin Fagan (Clarksburg, Md.) each scored a goal.
Freshman goalkeeper Ellie Thomas (Needham, Mass.) made eight saves and led all players with a career-high six ground balls.
UVM was led offensively by Meghan O'Connor (six goals) and Lydia Doraz (five goals) while Anna Rosenberger was credited with five saves.
UNH moves to 2-11 overall and 0-5 in America East while Vermont is now 5-8, 1-3.

FIRST QUARTER
- UVM scored goals 21 seconds apart at 10:50 and 10:29 to quickly take a 2-0 lead.
- Keys, cutting down the middle of the fan, collected a pass from Connerty and scored from close range to trim the deficit to 2-1 at 9:37.
- From the goal line extended on the right side, Connerty sent the ball to the top of the 8-meter fan, where Keys took three quick steps and fired a low shot into the net to tie the score, 2-2, at 4:20.
- The Catamounts scored three goals in the final three minutes to build a 5-2 advantage.
SECOND QUARTER
- Vermont scored the first five goals of the second quarter to extend the run to 8-0 and lead to 10-2 at 3:32.
- Connerty, on a restart from the hanging hash on the right side, muscled past a defender and deposited a low shot into the goal from the top of the crease at 2:26.
THIRD QUARTER
- Gronda opened the second-half scoring on a free position from the right side when she bounced a shot over Rosenberger under the crossbar to advance the score to 10-4 at 13:18.
- Connerty scored at 11:01 when she caught a pass off the left post, beat a defender and placed a shot inside the near post.
- UVM scored the next three goals – in a 78-second span – to establish at 13-5 lead at 9:00.
- Connerty scored her third goal of the game at 7:10. From the goal line extended on the left wing, Dale Meskill (Keller, Texas) made a centering pass to Connerty, who turned and fired a shot under the crossbar.
- Madie Erskine scored 51 seconds later to reestablish an eight-goal cushion, 14-6.
- Connerty once again found Keys cutting down the middle of the fan and the sophomore scored on a low shot to advance the score to 14-7 at 4:58.
- The home team struck twice in the last two minutes to push the lead to 16-7 through 45 minutes.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Pavuk factored on three of UNH's four goals in the fourth quarter.
- With the shot clock winding down, Pavuk curled around the left post and slipped a pass in front to Hawkes for the goal at 13:52.
- Pavuk then scored on a free position from the left side, as she dodged to the right, took a step back and pump-faked before ripping a shot into the net at 12:25 to trim the deficit to 16-9.
- UVM responded with consecutive goals to take an 18-9 lead at 7:38.
- From the top of the 12m, Fagan beat a defender down the right side and scored on a low shot inside the far post at 4:29.
- From the top-left of the 8m, Pavuk beat a defender to the outside and scored to make it 18-11 at 2:00.
- The Catamounts added a free-position goal with 1:23 remaining.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- This was Connerty's third career six-point game; she also had six points earlier this season at Quinnipiac University.
- Connerty and Pavuk both extended their goal and point streaks to 10 games. Connerty has 33 points (22 goals, 11 assists) while Pavuk has 26 points (16g, 10a).
- Connerty is No. 5 on UNH's career assist leaderboard with 74. She has 60 goals and 74 assists for 134 points in 55 games.
- Thomas, who entered the weekend ranked No. 2 in the nation in saves per game, finished with single-digit saves for only the second time in 13 games.
- Clara Pavuk (York, Maine) had a career-high four ground balls.
- Rose Pavuk had a team-high four draw controls.
- Charlize Collins (Burlington, Mass.) finished with two ground balls, two draw controls and a career-high two caused turnovers.
