UNH Defeated by Brown on the Road

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team was defeated 20-3 by Brown University at Stevenson-Pincince Field on Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore Erin Fagan (Clarksburg, Md.) recorded a goal, three draw controls, two ground balls and a caused turnover for the Wildcats.
Freshman goalkeeper Ellie Thomas (Needham, Mass.), the reigning America East Goalkeeper of the Week, was credited with 14 saves.
Junior Julia Gronda (Pompton Plains, N.J.) and sophomore Piper Boudreau (Chelmsford, Mass.) scored UNH's other goals.
Brown was led offensively by Beth Anderson (three goals, one assist). Starting goalie Claire Mahoney made three saves before exiting the game at halftime. Anne Booth allowed one goal and was not credited with a save in the third quarter. Margaret Woodberry allowed two goals in 9:54 and Elissa Byrne stopped both shots she faced the final 5:06.
UNH is now 1-1 and Brown is 1-0.

FIRST QUARTER
- Brown quickly built a 5-0 lead less than four minutes into the game.
- The Bears generated a 16-2 shot advantage and outscored the Wildcats 11-0 in the opening 15 minutes.
SECOND QUARTER
- Brown outscored UNH 5-0 in the second quarter with an 11-1 edge in shots to take a 16-0 lead into halftime.
THIRD QUARTER
- The home pushed the advantage to 19 goals in the third quarter.
- Fagan scored UNH's first goal on a free-position shot at 1:05 of the third quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Gronda scored a free-position goal at 8:53.
- Boudreau scored UNH's third free-position goal of the game – first on a player-up advantage – at 5:55.
GAME NOTEBOOK
- Brown finished with the edge in shots (39-10), shots on goal (34-8), ground balls (14-11) and draw controls (20-6).
- UNH scored on all three of its free-position shots. The Bears scored on 1 of 5 free-position shots.
