Hagan Records Career-High 16 Saves in 16-15 Loss at Bryant

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Junior goalkeeper Maria Hagan (Downers Grove, Ill.) recorded a career-high 16 saves but the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team was edged 16-15 by Bryant University at Beirne Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Grad student Izzy Holmes (Seattle, Wash.) matched her career high of four goals and also tallied an assist for a personal-best five points. Classmate Grace Curran (North Salem, N.Y.) matched her season highs of three goals and four points.
Junior Allie Connerty (Norwell, Mass.) finished with two goals and an assist. Grad students Liv Dunn (Newbury, Mass.) and Katie Taranto (Brewster, N.Y.) both tallied two points. Dunn scored two goals, whereas Taranto had a goal and an assist.
Bryant was led offensively by Emily DeGeorge (five goals, one assist), Kenna Kaut (4g, 2a) and Peyton Woodward (2g, 3a). Starting goalie Sam Centofante made four saves and allowed 13 goals in 43:04. Isabella Cardi was not credited with a save and had two goals against in 16:56.
UNH is now 2-11 overall and 0-5 in America East. The Bulldogs are 9-5, 3-2.

FIRST QUARTER
- Curran scored on a behind-the-back shot while falling down in the middle of the fan to tie the score, 1-1, at 12:24.
- Dunn scored 23 seconds later to give the Wildcats their first lead of the game.
- Holmes' first goal of the game tied the score, 3-3, at 6:37.
- Hannah McCarthy (Bedford, N.H.) scored on a free position from the top of the 8-meter to lift the 'Cats within 6-4 at 2:48.
- Bryant's Riley O'Mara scored with six seconds on the clock to re-establish a three-goal advantage, 7-4.
SECOND QUARTER
- New Hampshire outscored the Bulldogs 6-2 in the second quarter to take a 10-9 lead into halftime.
- Holmes cut down the middle of the fan and fired a shot into the bottom-left corner to lift the 'Cats within 8-5 at 11:32.
- On a free position from the top right, Dunn took two steps and rifled a shot into the goal to make it 8-6 at 10:54.
- UNH closed the half on a 4-0 run to surge back in front, 10-9.
- Holmes netted her third goal of the game at 6:06, then Curran, Connerty and Mackenzie MacEachern (Bedford, N.H.) scored within 72 seconds to put the Wildcats back in front with 30 seconds on the clock.
THIRD QUARTER
- UNH extended its run to seven consecutive goals to build a 13-9 lead.
- Holmes scored for the fourth time when she ripped a shot inside the right post to give the 'Cats their first multiple-goal lead of the game, 11-9, at 8:55.
- Dylan Lyons (Orange, Conn.) scored a free-position goal 28 seconds later.
- Curran found Connerty alone in the middle of the fan to push the advantage to 13-9 at 6:34.
- Bryant scored the last four goals of the quarter to tie the score at 13 through 45 minutes.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Taranto corralled a loose ball in the middle, advanced to her right and fired a shot back across inside the left post to give UNH a 14-13 lead 44 seconds into the fourth quarter.
- Bryant scored back-to-back goals at 12:25 and 8:03 to go back ahead, 15-14.
- Curran curled to the top of the circle and scored on a high shot under the crossbar to level the score, 15-15, at 5:41.
- An apparent UNH go-ahead goal with 91 seconds remaining was disallowed on the ruling of a dangerous follow through.
- Following a successful clear attempt, DeGeorge scored with 49 seconds left to give the Bulldogs a 16-15 lead.
- UNH won the ensuing draw control but lost the ball immediately on a Bulldogs' stick check and the home team retained possession the rest of the way to secure the win.
GAME NOTEBOOK
- Bryant finished with a 42-21 shot advantage that included 32-19 on goal.
- The Bulldogs also had the edge in draw controls (22-13), ground balls (14-11) and turnovers (8-17).
- UNH scored on 4 of 6 free position shots. The home team was 0-for-2.
- Both teams were near perfect on clear attempts. The Wildcats were 18-for-20 and Bryant was 23 of 24.

- Hagan surpassed her previous high of 13 saves, which she had done twice, most recently last season at Vermont.
- Her season high prior to Saturday was 12 against Detroit Mercy on Feb . 17.
- Connerty and MacEachern both have 96 career points.
- Taranto increased her career total to 94 points.
- MacEachern had a team-high five draw controls.
- Holmes and Hagan tied for the team lead in ground balls with three apiece.
- Dunn was the top 'Cat with a career-high two caused turnovers.
