MacEachern Records Five Points in 20-8 Loss at Binghamton

VESTAL, N.Y. – Senior Mackenzie MacEachern (Bedford, N.H.) recorded a season-high five points but the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team was defeated 20-8 by Binghamton University at Bearcats Sports Complex on Saturday.
MacEachern scored four goals – another season high – and tallied an assist to finish with five points. She also recorded a career-high and team-leading eight draw controls. MacEachern also had a team-high two ground balls.
Grad student Hannah McCarthy (Bedford, N.H.) scored three goals and junior Allie Connerty (Norwell, Mass.) finished with two points on a goal and an assist. Junior goalkeeper Maria Hagan (Downers Grove, Ill.) was credited with seven saves and two ground balls.
Binghamton was led offensively by Olivia Muscolino (six goals, two assists), Madison Murphy (4g, 1a), Emma Blloshmi (4g) and Carla Curth (1g, 3a). Sofia Salgado stopped 12 shots.
UNH is now 2-10 overall and 0-4 in America East. The Bearcats are 8-6, 3-1.

FIRST QUARTER
- Binghamton recorded an 11-4 shot advantage to build a 6-1 lead through 15 minutes.
- The Bearcats score goals 21 seconds apart to quickly take a 2-0 lead at 13:16.
- Binghamton scored free-position goals at 12:21 and 11:33 to push the advantage to four goals.
- From the top-right of the 12-meter, MacEachern slipped a pass to McCarthy cutting down the middle and she scored from the middle of the fan to trim the deficit to 4-1 at 5:49.
- The Bearcats netted goals at 2:13 and 1:24 to extend the lead to five goals.
SECOND QUARTER
- The home team outscored New Hampshire 8-4 in the second quarter on a 14-7 shot advantage.
- On a free position from the top left, MacEachern advanced toward goal and then stepped across the top of the goal crease to score a goal that made it 7-2 at 11:57.
- McCarthy struck again, this time off a pass from Connerty on the right wing, at 9:41, then Grace Curran (North Salem, N.Y.) sent a pass across the front of the goal and MacEachern finished at the right doorstep at 9:01 for an 8-4 score.
- Connerty drove from the right side to the middle of the fan and fired a sidearm shot into the goal to trim the deficit to 9-5 at 7:10.
- Binghamton scored the last five goals of the quarter to push the margin to 14-5.
THIRD QUARTER
- Both teams scored two goals in the third quarter.
- The Bearcats pushed the lead to double digits, 16-5, with goals at 13:20 and 11:17.
- MacEachern split a pair of defenders and scored from the middle of the fan at 4:24.
- McCarthy scored her third goal of the game on a free position to trim the deficit to single digits, 16-7, at 3:00.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Binghamton outscored UNH 4-1 in the final 15 minutes.
- From the goal line extended on the left wing, MacEachern maneuvered to the middle of the fan and scored her fourth goal of the game to move the score to 18-8 at 7:08.
- The Bearcats netted goals at 6:40 and 1:59 to close the scoring.
GAME NOTEBOOK
- Binghamton finished with the edge in shots (37-22) and shots on goal (27-20).
- UNH had a 9-8 edge in ground balls and draw controls were even at 16.
- The Bearcats committed two fewer turnovers (9-11).
- The Wildcats were 12-for-13 on clear attempts while the home team was 14 of 14.
- UNH scored on 2 of 5 free-position shots, whereas Binghamton was 4-for-5.
