O'Connor Scores Career-High in 13-8 Loss to UMBC

BALTIMORE, Md. – On Saturday, March 22 the University of New Hampshire Women's lacrosse team fell to the UMBC retrievers in a 13-8 loss.
Senior Olivia O'Connor (Hopkinton, Mass.) scored a career-high four goals in the game.

FIRST QUARTER
- UNH started off the game struggling to find the back of the net going scoreless in the first.
- UMBC went on a 6-0 scoring run in the quarter giving them a sizable advantage going into the second.
- Graduate student Izzy Holmes (Seattle, Wash.) put the first point on the board for the 'Cats at 12:21.
- Senior Olivia O'Connor (Hopkinton, Mass.) further chipped into the Retriever's lead scoring with 6:52 remaining in the half.
- UMBC responded to the Wildcat's revved-up offense by scoring three unanswered goals in the remainder of the period.
THIRD QUARTER
- The Wildcats went scoreless in the third period. UMBC extended their lead by two.
- The Wildcat's offense surged back in the fourth, outscoring the Retrievers 6-1.
- Senior Grace Curran (North Salem, N.Y.) kicked off the run, scoring at 10:36.
- UMBC player Kennedy Evans committed a foul giving graduate student Katie Taranto (Brewster, N.Y.) a free position shot opportunity which she capitalized on at 6:05.
- Less than a minute after Taranto's goal, O'Connor scored her second of the game at 5:19.
- UMBC fouled once again awarding the 'Cats another free position shot which junior Abby Hawkes (Amherst, N.H.) netted at 2:23. This was the Wildcat's third goal in just over three minutes.
- In the final minute of the game, O'Connor scored two more goals achieving the hat trick, and then her career-high of four goals at 0:18 and 0:02 respectively. Her second goal was assisted by Curran.
- The Wildcats ran out of time and were unable to complete the comeback despite a great fourth-quarter effort.
- UNH led the Retrievers in saves 9-7.
- The Wildcats were 2-4 on free position goals scored, and UMBC was 0-1.
- UNH has a 13-29 lifetime record against Dartmouth.
