Wildcats Claim No. 2 Seed in America East Championship
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Maine in a Border Battle, presented by Buffalo Wild Wings, on Thursday evening at Wildcat Stadium.
With the loss, the Wildcats claim the No. 2 seed for the second time in three years in the upcoming America East Championship tournament. The 'Cats receive a first-round bye and will host a semifinal game on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 6 p.m. Tickets are available now at UNHWildcats.com/Tickets. Their opponent will be determined following the quarterfinal matchup between No. 3 Binghamton and No. 6 Vermont on Sunday, Nov. 3.
Redshirt junior captain Sally Rainey (West Lebanon, N.H.) made six saves in the loss, while Maine goalkeeper Jessica Kasacek tallied three saves.
The Wildcats conclude the regular season at 11-4-1 overall and 6-2 in the America East, while Maine finishes at 11-1-3 and 7-0-1 in conference play.
