Elizabeth Finn scores equalizer on penalty kick

EASTON, Mass. - Senior midfielder Elizabeth Finn (Scituate, Mass.) converted a second-half penalty kick as the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team tied Stonehill, 1-1, on Thursday afternoon at Skyhawk Field in the 2026 season opener for both teams.

The Wildcats and Skyhawks each begin the season at 0-0-1, marking the second consecutive year the two programs have played to a 1-1 draw.

UNH returns to action Sunday, Aug. 16, with a 1 p.m. match at Siena. The Wildcats' home opener is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 23, against Dartmouth at 2 p.m. on ESPN+.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Senior goalkeeper Sonja Zeepvat (Mendham, N.J.) recorded her first save of the season in the 11th minute, jumping to catch a shot by Grace Robison headed toward the upper-right corner.
The Wildcats recorded their first shot on goal of the season when sophomore forward Lindsay Lenhard (Spencerport, N.Y.) had her attempt deflected by a charging Skyhawk goalkeeper Jenna Hamel in the 25th minute.
The Skyhawks broke through in the 64th minute (63:29) when Emma Cranston fired a shot from 16 yards out to the upper right corner of the net.
The Wildcats responded less than three minutes later. Following a Stonehill handball in the penalty area, Finn buried the ensuing penalty kick into the lower-left corner in the 66th minute (65:20).

Neither team was able to find the game winner as the match ended in a draw.
