Connerty's Career-High Six Points Leads UNH Past Bryant, 16-12

DURHAM, N.H. – Allie Connerty (Norwell, Mass.) recorded a career-high six points to propel the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team to Saturday afternoon's 16-12 victory against Bryant University at Wildcat Stadium.
Connerty scored two goals and matched her personal best with a game-high four assists. Katie Taranto (Brewster, N.Y scored a game-high four goals and was also credited with an assist to finish with five points.
Liv Dunn (Newbury, Mass.) and Grace Curran (North Salem, N.Y.) both scored three goals. Dunn scored her 50th career goal with the last of her three tallies.
Maria Hagan (Downers Grove, Ill.) made 11 saves to earn the win.
Bryant was led offensively by Emily Oliver and Kenna Kaut, both of whom had three goals and an assist. Sam Centofante stopped nine shots.
UNH improved to 4-7 overall, 2-2 in America East and 2-1 at home. The Bulldogs are now 6-6, 2-3.

FIRST QUARTER
- New Hampshire led 4-3 at the end of 15 minutes.
- From the top of the 8-meter on a free position, Connerty fired a shot into the bottom-right corner to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead at 14:05.
- Skylar Simmonds scored consecutive goals at 12:57 and 9:54 to give Bryant a 2-1 lead.
- Izzy Holmes (Seattle, Wash.) slipped a pass to Mackenzie MacEachern (Bedford, N.H.) in the middle of the fan and she ripped a shot into the goal to level the score, 2-2, at 8:00.
- The 'Cats went back in front 30 seconds later when Dunn rolled around the left post to the front of the cage and pump-faked twice before dropping the crosse low to shoot into the goal for a 3-2 lead at 7:30.
- From the right wing, Connerty found Curran cutting down the middle and she scored to extend the run to three consecutive goals and advantage to 4-2 at 5:54.
- Oliver lifted the Bulldogs within 4-3 at 3:59.
SECOND QUARTER
- UNH outscored the visitors 6-2 in the second quarter to double up Bryant, 10-5, heading into halftime.
- Dunn scored in nearly identical fashion to her first goal of the game to give New Hampshire a 5-3 lead at 11:50.
- Peyton Woodward converted a free position into a goal to advance the score to 5-4 at 9:42.
- The combination of Connerty-to-Curran produced a carbon copy goal to reestablish a two-goal cushion, 6-4, at 8:02.
- Ava Schroeder (Niskayuna, N.Y.), from the top-right on a free position, fired a low shot inside the left post give UNH a 7-4 advantage at 6:47.
- Margaret Adams' free-position goal made it 7-5 at 4:57, but the 'Cats closed the quarter on a 3-0 run.
- On the right wing, MacEachern slipped a pass low to Connerty, who advanced along the goal line and scored from close range to extend the lead to 8-5 at 4:05.
- Dunn netted her third of the game – this time without the pump-fakes as she deposited a shot into the upper-left corner – to give UNH a 9-5 advantage at 3:19.
- Taranto's free-position goal from the left side pushed the margin to 10-5 with 59 seconds on the clock.
THIRD QUARTER
- New Hampshire outscored the Bulldogs 4-2 in the third quarter to extend the lead.
- On the right wing, Connerty found another cutter in front – this time it was Taranto – for the goal and 11-5 lead at 13:25.
- Holmes beat her defender down the right side of the fan at 10:32 to extend the advantage to 12-5.
- Woodward's second goal stopped UNH's 5-0 run and cut the deficit to 12-6 at 7:23.
- Curran and Taranto scored a woman-up goals at 6:26 and 5:25, respectively, to give the Wildcats their largest lead of the game, 14-6.
- Kaut's free-position goal lifted the Bulldogs within 14-7 at 3:45.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Bryant finished with a 5-2 scoring advantage in the final frame but never got closer than three goals.
- The Bulldogs opened the fourth quarter with a 4-0 spurt to close within 14-11 at 4:17.
- Bryant got the ball back with 2:25 remaining, but immediately lost possession on a failed clear attempt.
- The visitors pulled Centofante out of the crease to try to double-team the ball and regain possession, but Emma Alpaugh (Darien, Conn.) drove down the right side of the fan and scored into an open net to give UNH a 15-11 lead at 2:05.
- Bryant controlled the ensuing draw and Kaut's third goal of the afternoon made it 15-12 at 1:43.
- Alpaugh won the next draw control, however, and this time it was Taranto's turn to score into an open net with 29 seconds remaining.
- Alpaugh also controlled the next draw and UNH ran out the clock.
GAME NOTEBOOK
- New Hampshire recorded the slight edge in both shots (29-27) and shots on goal (25-23), as well as draw controls (17-15).
- Bryant recorded a 13-10 advantage in ground balls.
- Turnovers were even at 12.
- UNH was successful on 15 of 16 clear attempts and Bryant was 13-for-16.
- The Wildcats scored on 3 of 6 free-position shots, whereas the Bulldogs were 4-for-9.
- Bryant was issued a total of nine cards in comparison to UNH's three.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- Connerty extended her point streak to 13 games with 11 goals and 29 assists for 40 points. She is the only Wildcat who has recorded a point all 11 games this season.
- Connerty surpassed her previous high of five points, which she did twice; she has tallied four assists in a game three times.
- Alpaugh scored her first career goal and recorded a career-high eight draw controls; she also matched her personal best of three caused turnovers.
- In addition to her two points, MacEachern had six draw controls. She now has 101 career DCs.
- Taranto extended her goal streak to 10 games with 34 tallies during this stretch.
- Hagan recorded 10+ saves for the second consecutive game and third time the past four games; she had a career-high 13 saves vs. both Binghamton University and, most recently, the University of Vermont.
- New Hampshire honored graduated Wildcats with Alumnae Appreciation Day, and the 'Cats also welcomed the Hampstead Youth Lacrosse team for a post-game autograph session.
SERIES NOTEBOOK
- UNH has a 3-0 lifetime record against Bryant.
