Service Credit Union Student-Athletes Of The Week: Jasmine Lyons and Scott Schulz

DURHAM, N.H. -- Junior Jasmine Lyons (Ottawa, Ontario) of the University of New Hampshire ski team and senior Scott Schulz (Lake Placid, N.Y.) of the UNH ski team were named the Service Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week on Jan. 17.

Jasmine raced to first place in the women's 7.5-kilometer freestyle skate at the season-opening Bates Carnival on Jan. 13. She crossed the finish line of the Black Mountain course in 20 minutes, 54.5 seconds, which was 31 seconds ahead of the nearest competitor in the field of 88 skiers.

Jasmine is picking up where she left off in a breakout 2022 season that was capped by a pair of All-America finishes at the NCAA Championships.

The UNH ski team returns to action Jan. 20-21 at the St. Michael's Carnival with Nordic competing at Rikert Touring Center and alpine events held at Smugglers' Notch. The Wildcats host the UNH Carnival on Jan. 27-28 at Jackson XC and Mittersill.

Scott raced to a pair of top-10 finishes at the season-opening Bates Carnival that was held Jan. 12-14.

He opened the Nordic season with seventh place in the 7.5-kilometer freestyle skate on Jan. 13 at Black Mountain. With a time of 18 minutes, 51.5 seconds, he finished only two-tenths-of-a-second behind the sixth place finisher.

One day later, Scott completed the 10K course in 23:28.7 to earn third place.
