Pierson is the fifth Wildcat to win the award starting in 1992.
AMESBURY, Mass. – Senior alternate captain Jackson Pierson (Zionsville, Ind.) has won the Len Ceglarski Individual Sportsmanship Award as announced by Hockey East. This award, named in honor of Len Ceglarski who was the head coach at Boston College from 1972-1992, is given by the league to one player who has consistently demonstrated superior conduct and sportsmanship on the ice. The directors of Hockey East established the Len Ceglarski Sportsmanship Award in 1992.
Pierson is now the fifth UNH Wildcat to win this award. Joe Flanagan won the inaugural award in 1992, while Todd Hall received this recognition in 1996, Steve Saviano won the award in 2004 and Patrick Grasso earned the honor in 2021.
This season, Pierson has been called for only four penalties and 11 for his career. He has demonstrated strong leadership as he was named an alternate captain this season.
Pierson currently has 31 goals and 56 assists for 87 career points over 114 games. This season, he leads the team in goals (12), is tied for third in assists (11) and is second in points (23).
The No. 9 seed Wildcats (14-18-1, 8-15-1 Hockey East) will play No. 8 seed Boston College (14-17-5, 9-12-3 Hockey East) in the Opening Round of the Hockey East Tournament on Wednesday, March 9 at 7 PM on NESN. This season, the Wildcats went 2-0-0 versus the Eagles with a 3-2 win on Jan. 14 at the Whittemore Center and a 5-2 win at Conte Forum on Jan. 15.
