Kyle Chauvette wins MVP
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's hockey program has announced its 2025-26 team awards.
2025-26 UNH Men's Hockey Award Winners:
Roger A. LeClerc Most Valuable Player Award: Kyle Chauvette
Guy Smith Best Offensive Player Award: Morgan Winters
Rod Langway Best Defenseman Award: Alex Carr
Charles E. Holt Coaches Award: Jared Whale
Robert A. Kullen Unsung Player Award: Kristaps Skrastins
Warren R. Brown Best Defensive Forward Award: Marty Lavins
Most Improved Player Award: Brendan Fitzgerald
Whoop Snively Citizenship Award: Cy LeClerc
Nate Hardy Iron Man Award: Ryan Philbrick
Frank "The Fan" Halbert Fan Favorite Award: Cy LeClerc
Sid Knight Academic Award: Jared Whale
Chauvette tied for second in the nation and first in Hockey East with five shutouts. He was named the Hockey East Goaltender of the Week on Dec. 8.
Winters led the team with 11 goals and 22 points. He was named the Hockey East Player of the Week on Oct. 13.
Carr played in all 35 games with two goals and five assists for a total of seven points. He ranked second on the team in blocks with 56.
Whale won the Charles E. Holt Coaches Award which is presented to the player who makes large contributions to the team, both on and off the ice as voted by the coaching staff. He also took home the Sid Knight Academic Award for his outstanding achievement in the classroom.
Skrastins played in 34 games this season with three goals and six assists for nine points. He won the Robert A. Kullen Unsung Player Award for all of his hard work behind the scenes and his dedication to the program.
Lavins won the Warren R. Brown Best Defensive Forward Award for the third straight season. He played in 22 games with five goals and five assists for 10 points on the season.
Fitzgerald played in all 35 games with two goals and 15 assists for 17 points on the season. He led the team in assists and was third in points.
LeClerc won the Whoop Snively Citizenship Award presented to the player who has distinguished himself through his citizenship and service to the University and the community, beyond any accomplishments on the ice. He also won the Frank "The Fan" Halbert Fan Favorite Award for the second straight season.
Philbrick earned the Nate Hardy Iron Man Award for excelling in the weight room through a 15-event competition during fall dry-land training. The award was named in honor of Nate Hardy, a Navy SEAL who was killed in action in Iraq in early February, 2008. Philbrick ranked second in Hockey East with 77 blocks and was seventh in the nation. He posted four goals and four assists for eight points.
