Pratt Scores Career-High Four Goals in 16-14 Loss at UMass Lowell

LOWELL, Mass. -- Junior midfielder Delaney Pratt (Lafayette, Colo.) scored a career-high four goals, but the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team was edged 16-14 by UMass Lowell at Cushing Field Complex on Saturday afternoon.

Graduate student Rylee Leonard (Coventry, R.I.), sophomore Liv Dunn (Newbury, Mass.) and senior Elizabeth Blanding (Pittsford, N.Y.) had three points each; Leonard and Dunn both tallied three goals, while Blanding scored twice and was the only Wildcat credited with an assist.

Junior Emily Curtis (Walpole, Mass.) and freshman Kailee Woods both contributed one goal. Junior goalkeeper Issy Torres (Elmhurst, Ill.) had nine saves.

Molly Shaw and Izzy Liquori were the top goal scorers for UMass Lowell as Shaw scored six and Liquori had five; both had one assist. Megan Brockbank matched Shaw's seven points with a goal and six assists. Goalkeeper Madison Grazidei had 10 saves and allowed 12 goals in 55:32 of relief action to get the win. Mackenzie Brown started and allowed two goals without a save when she exited 4:28 into the game.

UNH drops to 2-4 on the season and 1-3 in America East, and is scheduled to return to play April 3 in an America East matchup against the 1-3 Binghamton University Bearcats at Wildcat Stadium.

First Half
- Anna Bauter scored her first goal of the game off Brockbank's assist 67 seconds into the game to give UMass Lowell a 1-0 lead.
- A little under two minutes later, Leonard scored to tie the game, 1-1, at 27:06.
- One minute later, Pratt scored a goal on a free-position shot to give UNH the 2-1 lead.
- UML was quick to retaliate as Shaw scored consecutive goals at 25:32 and 25:10 to put the River Hawks back in front, 3-2.
- With 23:25 left on the clock, Leonard fired a shot on goal to mark her second of the game and level the score at 3.
- A little under two minutes later, Izzy Liquori of UML scored to spark a 3-1 run.
- Dunn made a diving shot towards the goal tying the game, 4-4, at 19:14.
- Brockbank received a pass from Shaw and scored to give UML a 5-4 lead at 14:12.
- With 12:18 left on the clock, Abby McLaughlin scored off an assist from Kaitlin Tobin to increase UML's lead to two goals.
- After a dodge from left to right, Blanding scored when she drove all the way down to the goal and fired a shot towards the top-right of the net to lift the 'Cats within 6-5 at 10:41.
- On a free position, Liquori drove from left to right and scored to reestablish a two-goal margin, 7-5, at 9:38.
- With nine minutes to go in the first half, McLaughlin scored her second goal of the game extending UML's lead to three.
- UNH answered with three consecutive goals to tie the score, 8-8.
- Pratt netted her second goal of the game on a free-position shot at 8:10.
- A little under five minutes to go in the first half, Pratt drove to the net on a free position and fired it toward the right side of the net to cut UML's lead to one.
- After UNH was awarded a free position, Dunn cut from left to right and squeezed a shot inside the lower-left side of the goal to tie the game, 8-8, at 3:14.
Second Half
- Liquori scored her third goal of the game to give UML a 9-8 advantage at 28:20.
- Curtis drove toward the left side of the net and scored her first goal of the season to tie the score at 26:47.
- Shaw potted her third of the game off Brockbank's assist in a give-and-go transaction to put the River Hawks back in front, 10-9, at 24:16.
- The Wildcats took advantage of a free position as Blanding fired a shot that was saved. Pratt picked up the ground ball and ripped it into the left side of the net to equalize the score, 10-10, at 21:22.
- UMass Lowell scored five goals in a span of 5 minutes, 34 seconds to surge out to a 15-10 lead.
- Nine minutes into the second half, Shaw scored another goal on a quick release after a pass by Brockbank as the home team regained the lead, 11-10.
- Brockbank set up Shaw again at 18:29 to increase UML's lead to two goals.
- Twenty-five seconds later, Anna Bauter scored off of an assist from Brockbank.
- Liquori's free-position goal pushed the advantage to 14-10 at 16:35 and prompted UNH to call a timeout.
- Brockbank assisted Shaw as she came around the back of the goal and scored to increase UML's lead to five goals at 15:26.
- Dunn came around the left side of the goal and shot into the top-middle to cut UML's lead to 15-11 at 13:58.
- Blanding picked up an assist as she drove from the left side and found Woods cutting from the right side toward the net to score her first career goal to lift UNH within 15-12 at 9:23.
- After a face dodge from left to right, Liquori shot into the top-right of the net to score her fifth of the game and give UML a 16-12 lead at 8:26.
- With 6:37 to go, Leonard cut from the right side and shot a low ball into the left side for her third goal of the game and advance the score to 16-13.
- Blanding split the defense and fired a sidearm shot under the crossbar for her second goal of the game that reduced the margin to 16-14 at 5:44.
- UML took a timeout and didn't allow a shot on goal the rest of the way to preserve the win.
Game Notebook
- UNH finished with 28 shots (24 on goal) and UMass Lowell attempted 36 (25 on goal).
- UNH led in ground balls as they picked up 18 in comparison to UML's 13.
- UML dominated draw controls with 25 compared to UNH's seven.
- Both teams had six free position shots.
- UNH was 15-for-20 in clear attempts while UMass Lowell was a perfect 12 of 12.
- The Wildcats committed fewer turnovers (13-17).

- Junior Meghan Doyle (Pittsford, N.Y.) had a team-high four ground balls, and her two caused turnovers tied for tops on the team.
- Woods, who scored her first career goal, also had two caused turnovers.
- Leonard recorded her 75th career point with the second of her three goals. She has 47 goals and 29 assists for 76 points in 39 games.
- Leonard extended her point streak to 22 games; she has 41 goals and 28 assists for 69 points (3.14 ppg) during the streak.

- Blanding tallied a season high of three points.
- In addition to her career-high four goals for a personal best of four points, Pratt had a team-high two draw controls.
- Freshman Olivia O'Connor (Hopkinton, Mass.) also had two draw controls.

- UNH now has a 5-1 lifetime record against UMass Lowell.
