UNH sweeps the season series with Holy Cross.
WORCESTER, Mass. – University of New Hampshire senior forward Meghara McManus (Milton, Mass.) notched her team-leading 13th and 14th goals of the season as the Wildcats women's ice hockey team blew past the Holy Cross Crusaders by a score of 5-2 at the Hart Center in Worcester on Saturday afternoon.
It's McManus' second and third goals of the weekend, and it sets a new career-high for goals in a season for the senior right winger.
UNH's other three tallies came from senior captain Taylor Wenczkowski (Rochester, N.H.), freshman Tamara Thiérus (Saint-Jérôme, Quebec), and junior Grace Middleton (Midland, Mich.). Freshman goaltender Nikki Harnett (Plymouth, Minn.) once again got the nod in net, stopping 21 of Holy Cross' 23 shots on net. The victory improves her record to 4-3-1 in her debut season.

GAME RECAP
- UNH took control of the game very early, as Taylor Wenczkowski tallied the opening goal just 32 seconds into the game, assisted by Meghara McManus and Annie Berry (Milton, Mass.) That goal is tied for the quickest UNH goal this season, the first of which was scored by Meghara McManus at Northeastern earlier this season.
- The Wildcats tacked on another goal in the first 10:30 into the period, with McManus tallying her first of the game, assisted by Tori Howran (Bancroft, Ontario) and Maddie Truax (Gardner, Mass.) to put UNH up 2-0 at the first intermission.
- New Hampshire tallied two more in the second to go up 4-0; the eventual game-winner came from Grace Middleton 13:22 into the period, assisted by her linemates Ellie Sasaki (Markham, Ontario) and Nicole Dunbar (Coto de Caza, Calif.), and the second goal came from Tamara Thiérus from Lindsey Dumond (Hampton, N.H.).
- Holy Cross would get one back late in the period, just one minute after the goal by Thiérus; a goal for the captain Antonia Matzka, assisted by Charlotte Abrech put the Crusaders on the board, 4-1.
- The Wildcats answered back with one second remaining on the scoreboard, as McManus tallied her second goal of the game 19:59 into the second, again assisted by her linemates Wenczkowski and Berry. It was the latest goal into a period in a UNH game this season, the next closest being 19:42 (Dec. 6 at Merrimack).
- A penalty-free third period saw just one goal, an unassisted Crusader goal by Emma Lange late in the period. With just under 20 seconds to play in regulation, Holy Cross cut the UNH lead to 5-2.
