GAME RECAP
- The Wildcats opened the game with a 7-2 shot advantage in the first 14 minutes of play, but Maine was the first to tally a goal after a shot that looked to be headed wide was redirected in the air and under the glove-side arm of Harnett for the 1-0 lead.
- Just 54 seconds into the second period, Emily Rickwood took a wrist shot from the nearside faceoff circle that beat Jackson on her glove-side shoulder to equalize the game, 1-1.
- Maine tallied two straight power play goals to retake and extend the lead, the first came 7:03 into the period, with one second left on the power play as another puck was tipped out of mid-air into the net; the second came on a shot from the middle of the faceoff dots that just snuck under the bar.
- Maine extended its lead to 4-1 15:33 into the second period as a turnover gave the Black Bears an opportunity deep in their offensive zone, passing the puck from behind the net to a crashing forward who flipped the puck into the net.
- The Black Bears tallied another goal on 1:56 into the final frame, as a rush down the near-side boards resulted in a shot that went over the shoulders of Harnett and down into the net for the 5-1 lead.
- Despite three straight UMaine penalties late in the third period, UNH was kept off the scoreboard in the final frame.
