Wildcats Fall to Maine Saturday, 3-0

The Wildcats were shut out for only the third time this season.
ORONO, Maine – After getting a conference point from Maine on Friday, the University of New Hampshire women's hockey team fell to the Black Bears 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Alfond Arena.
Though the Wildcats committed several penalties, none resulted in a power play goal as Maine finished the game 0-7 on the power play. UNH finished 0-3 on the power play.
The Wildcats now sit in fourth place in Hockey East, just one point ahead of the fifth place team, Northeastern.
UNH will travel to Chestnut Hill, Mass. next weekend for one game on Friday, Feb. 9 with #3 Boston College. Puck drop is at 2 P.M. on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.

GAME RECAP
- Maine struck first early in the first period, getting a goal 1:47 into the period on a slow pass that was shot on a deflection on a tough angle.
- The Black Bears got their second goal in the second period just about halfway through the period, on a long two-on-one pass 7:22 into the period.
- Maine sealed the game on an empty netter 18:48 into the final period.

- The loss is only UNH's third time being shut out this season.
- New Hampshire suffered just its second loss in the second game of a back-to-back series. (5-2-2 in those games.)
