Croke, Leonard Score Four Goals Apiece in 16-11 Loss to BU

DURHAM, N.H. – Devon Croke (Norwell, Mass.) and Rylee Leonard (Coventry, R.I.) scores four goals apiece but the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team was defeated by Boston University, 16-11, on Wednesday afternoon at Wildcat Stadium.
Croke matched her personal best of four goals and was also credited with two ground balls and two caused turnovers, while the four goals and four points both marked career highs for Leonard. Kate Clancy (Barrington, R.I.) made eight saves.
BU was led offensively by Kailey Conry's 11 points (3g, 8a). Mickinzie Larivee (4g), Avery Donahoe (3g), Taylor Hardison (2g) and Elisabeth Jayne (2g) also tallied multiple points for the Terriers. Caroline Meegan stopped 17 shots.
UNH ends the regular season with a 3-13 overall record that includes 3-3 in America East. The Wildcats are the No. 4 seed in the America East Championship and will play at top-seeded Stony Brook University in a May 5 (5:30 p.m.) semifinal.
BU, which outscored the 'Cats 11-4 in the second half, improved to 8-7.

GAME RECAP
- BU opened the game with a player-up advantage for two minutes and parlayed that into a 2-0 lead on goals by Larivee at 29:42 and Conry at 28:51.
- UNH responded with three consecutive goals to take a 3-2 lead. Carly Wooters (White Plains, N.Y.) scored the Wildcats' first goal at 27:06 and Croke leveled the score, 2-2, at 23:12. Leonard gave the home team its first lead of the game at 20:39.
- That lead was short-lived, however, as Larivee struck again 20 seconds later.
- Leonard and Croke netted consecutive goals at 15:03 and 12:15 to put the 'Cats back in front, 5-3.
- The Terriers closed within 5-4 at 9:59, but Croke and Krissy Schafer (Longmeadow, Mass.) scored 71 seconds apart to extend the advantage to three goals at 7:11.
- At the other end of the field, Jayne finished a feed from Conry at 6:43. UNH took that 7-5 lead into halftime.
- BU scored four straight goals less than five minutes into the second half to surge back in front, 9-7. Contry tallied a goal and two assists during that run.
- Leonard's third strike trimmed the deficit to 9-8 at 23:22 and Croke followed with her fourth goal of the game 49 seconds later to level the score at 9.
- The Terriers reached double digits first to regain the lead at 19:05.
- Leonard forged the fifth tie of the game, 10-10, at 16:29.
- Boston U. scored five consecutive goals in a span of 4:29 to quickly build a 15-10 lead. Conry initiated the spurt with a goal at 13:25 and set up three other goals.
- BU extended the run to 6-0 when Conry set up Hardison at 3:01.
- Anna Vogt (Stratham, N.H.) closed the scoring on a free-position goal with 17 seconds on the clock.
'CAT NIPS
- Cat Sennott (Westford, Mass.) recorded a career-high five ground balls and matched her best of three caused turnovers.
- Hope Kissick (Cohasset, Mass.) tallied a personal-best six draw controls; she also had two ground balls.
- Lizzie Suschana (Somers, Conn.) recorded her first career point with an assist in the first half. She caused a turnover and corralled the ground ball at midfield, then quickly found Croke behind the defense to earn the helper on the tally that gave UNH a 5-3 lead.
- Suschana was also credited with three ground balls, one draw control and one caused turnover.
- Amy LeBel (Charlton, N.Y.) picked up her first career assist – second career point – be setting up Schafer's strike at 7:11 of the first half; she also corralled two draw controls.
- Wooters extended her point streak to 11 games with her first-half goal; she has a point in 15 of 16 games this season.
- Croke's point streak is now six games; she has 20 points (14g, 6a) in that span.
