Wooters, Schafer Record Two Points Apiece in 13-4 Loss to UMass

DURHAM, N.H. – Krissy Schafer (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Carly Wooters (White Plains, N.Y.) recorded two points apiece and Kate Clancy (Barrington, R.I.) made seven saves, but the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team was defeated 13-4 by the University of Massachusetts in Friday afternoon's non-conference game at Wildcat Stadium.
Schafer scored two goals while Wooters tallied a goal and an assist as well as three draw controls and two ground balls. Devon Croke (Norwell, Mass.) scored the Wildcats' other goal and recorded a game-high nine shots. Hope Kissick (Cohasset, Mass.) finished with three caused turnovers, two draw controls and a ground ball.
UMass was led offensively by Hannah Burnett (5g) and Hannah Murphy (3g, 2a) with five points apiece; Murphy was also credited with 10 draw controls. Goalie Lauren Hiller made 11 saves and Taylor Fischer had a game-high four ground balls.
UNH moves to 0-6 and UMass is now 3-3.

GAME RECAP
- Callie Santos scored 26 seconds into the game and Kaitlyn Cerasi struck 14 seconds later to quickly give UMass a 2-0 lead.
- The Minutewomen extended the advantage to 5-0 seven minutes into the game.
- Schafer finished a feed from Catherine Sexton (Niskayuna, N.Y.) to trim the deficit to 5-1 at 14:02.
- UMass closed the first half on a 4-1 run to take an 8-2 lead into halftime.
- The rest of the stats were relatively even at the half, as the visitors held the slight edge in shots (13-10), ground balls (11-8), draw controls (6-5) and turnovers (9-11).
- Kiley Anderson opened the second-half scoring at 29:06 and Burnett netted her third goal of the game 23 seconds later to push the cushion to 10-2.

- Neither team scored again for nearly 17 minutes. Murphy's third goal of the day ended the scoreless stretch at 10:33.
