Wildcats Face Off with Catamounts in Two-Game Home Series

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's hockey team will host the Vermont Catamounts this Friday night and Saturday afternoon to cap off their series with the Catamounts this season. This comes after the Wildcats faced the Catamounts in the second weekend of the season, defeating Vermont in overtime 5-4.
Family Game Night
Friday night's game will be Family Game Night at the Whittemore center. There will be several fun activities on the arena concourse including giant jenga, giant connect-four, and cornhole.
Stick it to Stigma
Saturday's game will be the Stick it to Stigma Mental Health Awareness game, raising awareness of and promoting good mental health, and providing free admission to youth sports teams, community organizations, families and individuals, provided by Connor's Climb. The Matchup: UVM vs. UNH
The Wildcats and the Catamounts have already met once this season, on October 20th, when New Hampshire scored two heroic goals with 12 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game and 18 seconds remaining in overtime to seal the victory. It was the 46th meeting of the two teams, and New Hampshire now holds a 32-11-3 series advantage over Vermont.

Taylor Wenczkowski (Rochester, N.H.) had a team-high three points on the week with a goal at Northeastern and two assists on the weekend. Her goal came on the power play. Julia Fedeski (Algonquin Highlands, Ontario) scored the game-winning goal on the power play against Maine on Saturday, and two Wildcats, Meghara McManus (Milton, Mass.) and Amy Schlagel (Blaine, Minn.) had a power-play goals in the third to tie the game in the third period against BU, after the Wildcats were down 2-0 after one period.
'Cat Nips
•Senior defensemen Schlagel and Fedeski were both drafted to NWHL teams this offseason, Schlagel going 18th overall to the Buffalo Beauts, and Fedeski going 20th overall to the Boston Pride.
• Fedeski is second on the team in scoring with 10 points (5g, 5a). All five of her goals have come on the power play. Fedeski had a three-pint day against Dartmouth (1g, 2a).
• Sophomore McManus, after her goal against BU cutting the lead to one goal, now has the team lead in points and assists with 11 points on six assists, five goals. McManus had the heroic game-tying goal with 12 seconds left in regulation the last time UNH played Vermont.
• Senior captain Carlee Toews (Grand Prairie, Alberta) is now third in points on the team with eight. She has two goals and six assists, with an assist in each game this past weekend.
• Wenczkowski now has seven points on the year with her power play goal against #7 Northeastern putting her at three goals on the year. She's now on a four-game point streak, with two goals and two assists for four points in the last four games.
• Sophomore Tori Howran (Bancroft, Ontario) also has seven points on one goal and six assists. She tallied her first career goal against Holy Cross, adding two assists that afternoon for her first career three-point day.
• Junior Devan Taylor (North Billerica, Mass.) has five points on four goals and one assist. Taylor had the game-winning goal against Vermont in the final minute of overtime. Another of her goals was shorthanded.
• Junior captain Marie-Jo Pelletier (Dalhousie, New Brunswick) now also has five points on the season with one goal and four assists. Pelletier assisted on Schlagel's game-tying strike against BU.
• Sophomore forward Nicole Dunbar (Coto De Caza, Calif.) is one of five players with four points on three goals and one assist. Her assist came on the game-winning goal to Taylor at Vermont. Dunbar has one game-winning goal on the season.
• The other three 'Cats at four points so far are senior captain Kate Haslett (Rothesay, New Brunswick) who tallied her first three points of the season against Holy Cross and added an assist at Vermont, sophomore Carlee Turner (Scottsdale, Ariz.), who has three assists, and tallied her first goal of the season against Maine, and Schlagel.
Boutilier Gets the Start
Freshman goaltender Ava Boutilier (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island) has started all eight games for the Wildcats this season. She touts a 5-1-2 overall record and has made 215 saves in her first season. She has allowed 15 goals for a 1.82 GAA and has a .935 save% through eight games.
Scouting Vermont
The Catamounts (Burlington, Vt.) come into the weekend with a 4-5-0 overall record, 3-3-0 in Hockey East play. UVM is coming off a four-point weekend at Merrimack winning 3-0 on Friday and 2-1 on Saturday, snapping a four-game losing skid. Vermont is led by sophomore forward Ève Audrey-Picard who has eight points on five goals and three assists, with one power play goal and one game-winning goal. Following close behind is juniors Taylor Flaherty and Alyssa Gorecki, who each have seven points; Flaherty has three goals, four assists and Gorecki has two goals, five assists. In net, the Catamounts have seen even play from junior Melissa Black and sophomore Sydney Scobee. Black was in net the last time the Catamounts faced the Wildcats; she has started four of nine games for the Catamounts this year with a 3.20 GAA and .895 save%
