GAME RECAP
- UNH tallied their two goals in the first period within 21 seconds of each other. The first coming from Dunbar on a quick three-on-three rush, with Abby Chapman (Beverly Hills, Mich.) skating it across the blue line on the left wing, passing it over quickly to Ellie Sasaki (Markham, Ontario) in the middle, who then quickly passed it over to Dunbar on the right, and put it top shelf on the left side of the net to give UNH a 1-0 lead. It was Sasaki's first career point.
- The second goal, 21 seconds later, was a snipe from the blue line from Schlagel. The offensive-zone faceoff was won to Marie-Jo Pelletier (Dalhousie, New Brunswick), who then passed it over to Taylor Wenczkowski (Rochester, N.H.), who skated to the left side and played it back to Schlagel, who let the shot fly while falling down.
- Merrimack answered back in the second period as Madison Morey put one past Boutilier, assisted by Mikyla Grant-Mentis and Courtney Maud. Grant-Mentis passed the puck from behind the red line, to a charging Morey who shot it straight on. Merrimack had cut the lead, 2-1.
- Late in the game, the Warriors committed a costly major penalty to put UNH on the power play for the remainder of the game.
- With 1:17 remaining in the third, Merrimack pulled their goaltender to attempt one final five-on-five push. UNH cleared the puck from their defensive zone, and while trying to prevent an empty net chance, an errant Merrimack pass found its way to a diving Carlee Turner (Scottsdale, Ariz.) who knocked it over to Fedeski for a wide open empty-net chance to put the Wildcats up 3-1.
