‘Cats Suffer First Loss of the Season at #7 Northeastern

A power play goal from Wenczkowski was not enough as the Huskies tally four goals.
BOSTON – The University of New Hampshire women's hockey team suffered its first loss of the season at #7 Northeastern on Wednesday evening, losing to the Huskies 4-1. Sophomore forward Taylor Wenczkowski (Rochester, N.H.) scored her third goal of the season on a power play, assisted by Carlee Turner (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and Tori Howran (Bancroft, Ontario).
Freshman goaltender Ava Boutilier (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island) had a career-high 33 saves in the loss, allowing four goals for her first loss of the season. Her record is now 4-1-1.
UP NEXT: The Wildcats return home for two games this weekend, hosting the Maine Black Bears on Saturday, Oct. 28 for the annual Skating Strides game, and hosting Boston University on Sunday, Oct. 29. GAME RECAP
- Northeastern struck first in the first period, getting a goal six minutes in from Denisa Krizova to give the huskies a quick 1-0 lead.
- On a power play 13:56 into the first period, Northeastern scored their second goal. Kasidy Anderson puts the Huskies up 2-0.
- The Wildcats found themselves on the power play on a slashing penalty in the final minute of the first. It took until the second period, but Wenczkowski notched the power play goal to cut the lead to one goal.
- Another power play in the second was killed off by Northeastern, and then Anderson scored her second of the game 12:17 into the second period to re-extend the lead to two goals.
- Northeastern answered another UNH power play with one of their own and scored just seconds into it to start off the third period with a 4-1 lead.
