The Wildcats are now have a conference-leading record of 3-1-1.

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's hockey team defeated conference foe and arch-rival Maine on Saturday afternoon in the annual Hockey East Skating Strides game. Julia Fedeski (Algonquin Highlands, Ontario) scored her fifth power play goal of the season to put the Wildcats ahead, and Carlee Turner (Scottsdale, Ariz.) got the 'Cats on the board tying the game after Maine jumped out with an early 1-0 lead.

Freshman goalie Ava Boutilier (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island) got the start in net and is now 5-1-1 on the season after stopping 25 shots in the contest.

GAME RECAP

Maine took an early lead with a goal from Michelle Weis after some chaos in front of the net.
Carlee Turner put the 'Cats on the scoreboard at 13:20 of the first period. She was assisted by Jenna Rheault (Deering, N.H.) and Taylor Wenczkowski (Rochester, N.H.) on a fast break chance.
Julia Fedeski added another score for the Wildcats with a power play goal at 16:48 in the first period. Fedeski got the feed from Meghara McManus (Milton, Mass.) from behind the net.
The second period went scoreless with Maine tallying 6 shots to New Hampshire's 5.
The third period also saw no change in score, with Boutiler making eight saves and Maine pulling their goalie with 2:27 left in regulation on a power play.
