Wooters' Overtime Goal Lifts Women's Lax to 9-8 Win at Binghamton

VESTAL, N.Y. – Carly Wooters (White Plains, N.Y.) scored 62 seconds into overtime to give the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team a 9-8 victory against Binghamton University at Bearcats Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.

GAME RECAP
- UNH trailed 8-6 with two minutes remaining in regulation but rallied to force overtime. Wooters scored at 1:30 and Laura McHoul (Westwood, Mass.) won the ensuing draw control to give the Wildcats possession.
- Krissy Schafer (Longmeadow, Mass.) scored her second goal of the game and 17th of the season with six seconds on the clock to tie the score at 8 and send the game into sudden-victory overtime.
- Savanna Fiehler (Valley Center, Calif.) gained possession of the opening draw control of the extra session and McHoul, who set up the game-tying goal, set up Wooters' game-winning goal 62 seconds into OT to end the game.
- New Hampshire never led the entire 60 minutes of regulation. Binghamton jumped out to a 3-0 lead six minutes into the game with consecutive goals in a span of 2 minutes, 23 seconds.
- The Bearcats led by as many as four goals, 5-1 at 16:35 of the first half.
- UNH outscored the hosts 3-1 the rest of the half – on goals by Wooters, Devon Croke (Norwell, Mass.) and Catherine Sexton (Niskayuna, N.Y.) – to trim the deficit to 6-4 heading into halftime.
- Binghamton's Rebecca Golderman extended the advantage to 7-4 just 15 seconds into the second half.
- Schafer and Sexton scored consecutive goals at 11:08 and 9:12 to lift the Wildcats within 7-6.
- Valerie DeNapoli reestablished a two-goal advantage at 6:47 but the Bearcats were held scoreless the rest of the way.
- Bearcats' goalkeeper Erin McNulty denied both Croke and Devan Miller (Bristol, R.I.) on free-position shots 10 seconds apart (at 10:44 and 10:34) to keep the margin at two goals.

- New Hampshire recorded the advantage in shots (22-12), ground balls (17-12) and draw controls (11-8) while committing fewer turnovers (15-20).

- Wooters extended her goal streak to 11 games with her three tallies.
- McHoul extended her point streak to 11 games with three assists. She is on the verge of becoming the sixth UNH Wildcat to record 200 career points; McHoul has 74 goals and program-record 124 assists for 198 points.
