Men’s Soccer Hosts Hartford in AE Quarterfinal on Saturday (1 PM), Tickets Available Now

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team will host the University of Hartford in the America East Men's Soccer Quarterfinal on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. The game will take place on Bremner Field and tickets are available at www.UNHWildcats.com.
UNH in the AE Tournament: The Wildcats have made 16 appearances in the America East Tournament and have a record of 7-12-5 in those matches. Ties are determined by penalty kicks but are still classified as ties. As the sixth seed last season, the Wildcats drew third-seeded UMBC in the quarterfinals where they fell in a heartbreaker, 1-0.
UNH vs. Hartford in Postseason: The Wildcats and Hawks have faced each other three times in the AE Tournament and the Wildcats are 1-0-2 against the Hawks, but each tie has resulted in Hartford advancing in penalty kicks. The last time the two teams met in the playoffs was in 2013 where the score at the end of overtime was 1-1, but Hartford won, 4-3, on penalty kicks.
NO TIES: The 2016 season marked the first time since 2003 that UNH did not have a tie in the regular season (8-9-0).
REMATCH FROM 10/29: UNH and Hartford battled just five days ago on Saturday, Oct. 29 at Hartford, a match that the 'Cats won, 2-1. Sophomore forward Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.) scored both goals for UNH in the match with assists coming from Kristian Piippo (Honefoss, Norway) and senior co-captain Chris Wingate (Hovik, Norway). UNH keeper Andrew Pesci (Windham, N.H.) made two saves on three shots faced.
SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE: The Wildcats finished the regular season with a mark of 12-6-0 and a conference record of 4-3-0. In the regular season finale at Vermont, UNH fell by a score of 2-0 on Nov. 2. The match was scoreless until the 63rd minute until Vermont got on the board. They put another goal on the board in the 85th minute to finalize the score. UNH keeper Andrew Pesci (Windham, N.H.) made nine saves in the match.
The Wildcats are led on offense by sophomore Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.), who has 29 points on 14 goals and one assist. He is the highest scoring sophomore in UNH history after passing Bob Black who tallied 26 points in 1973. He is the highest scoring Wildcat since Chris Banks who had 28 points in 2006. Senior co-captain Chris Wingate (Hovik, Norway) is second on the team in points with 16 from four goals and eight assists. Freshman Jack Dickson (Bournemouth, England) has 13 points on five goals and three assists while sophomore Alex Valencia (Tracey, Calif.) splits his nine points on three goals and three assists.
Senior William Picoux (Lorient, France) has seven points from two goals and three assists while junior Juan Velazquez (San Francisco, Calif.) has four points on two goals. Senior co-captain Duff Thomson (Greenfield, N.H.), freshman Ben Gleditsch (Oslo, Norway) and sophomore Kristian Piippo (Honefoss, Norway) each have three points on a goal and an assist. Back Lalaina Randriamanantena (Auvergne, France) has two points on two assists along with freshman Jack Doherty (Meriden, N.H.). Redshirt freshman Kyle Brewster (New Hampton, N.H.) has two points on a goal while senior midfielder Riley Ellis (Goffstown, N.H.) has one point on one assist.

UML got on the board in the 47th minute and the 66th minute to take a 2-0 lead, but Hartford's Alexis Triadis scored in the 71st minute to cut the deficit. The goal would not be enough as the River Hawks took the match. Hartford's Jimmy Slayton made four saves on six shots faced in the match.
Jeff Tryon leads the squad in points with 12 on six goals. Udi Cohen has nine points on two goals and five assists while Andri Jonasson has three goals and one assist for seven points.
