Three Straight Wins in Sight; Women’s Soccer Battles Albany (Oct. 4; 2 p.m.)

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team aims for its third straight win, when they play host to the University of Vermont at Bremner Field for Senior Recognition Day on Sunday, Oct. 4 (2 p.m.).
LAST TIME OUT FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE (4-5-3, 2-0-0 AE)
Wildcats improved their record to 4-5-3 overall including 2-0 in America East with a 3-2 road win against the University of Vermont (Oct. 1). The Wildcats found themselves up 1-0 after the first half thanks to an own goal by the Catamounts. However, the Catamounts scored two quick goals in the second half, forcing the Wildcats to battle back. Senior Kirsten O'Neil (Hampton, N.H.) scored the equalizer in the 61st minute off a corner kick from senior Caroline Murray (New Canaan, Conn.). The Wildcats then produced the game-winning goal in the 81st minute when junior Caitlin Bucksbaum (Mendon, Vt.) finished a through ball placed into the box from sophomore Brooke Murphy (Monson, Mass.). Junior goalie Mimi Borkan (Medfield, Mass.) improved her record to 4-5-3 on the season making five saves in net.
LAST TIME OUT FOR UALBANY 9 (6-5-1, 1-0-1 AE)
The Great Danes improved their record to 6-5-1 and 1-0-1 in America East with a 2-1 home win against Binghamton University (Oct. 1). Set pieces were key for the Great Danes as they scored both goals from free kicks. Senior Krista Fitzpatrick set a new career-assist record for UAlbany, earning two assists in the game. The Great Danes' goals came from junior Alexa Schneider in the 43rd minute to open the scoring and sophomore Vivian Vega in the 73rd minute to retake the lead. Senior goalkeeper Alana Brennan posted nine saves and a 0.900 save percentage in the win.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. UALBANY
New Hampshire holds a 9-5-1 record all-time record against UALbany. UNH has been held winless in their last two appearances against the Great Danes posting a 0-1-1 record. The last win for the Wildcats came back in 2012 when the team pulled out a 1-0 victory at the College of Saint Rose.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
Murphy continues to pace the Wildcat's offense this season with 15 points (six goals, three assists). Murray is second on the team with eight points (one goal, six assists), and senior Gabrielle Sloan (Stow, Mass.) ranks third for the Wildcats with seven points (three goals, 1 assist). Through 12 games, the Wildcats have tallied four shutouts. Borkan has earned a 1.20 goals against average and a 0.803 save percentage.

The Great Danes are led by junior Alexa Schneider who has tallied 14 points (five goals, four assists). UAlbany's leading goal scorer is sophomore Vivian Vega who has posted six goals and an assist, ranking second on the team with 13 points. Redshirt sophomore Kiana Rugar is third on the team with 11 points (four goals, three assists). Through 12 games, the Great Danes have posted three shutouts. Senior Alana Brennan has accumulated a 1.20 goals against average and a 0.795 save percentage.

Five seniors will be recognized for their contribution to the program on Sunday. Kirsten O'Neil, Morgan Smith, Gabrielle Sloan, Kellie McGoldrick and Caroline Murray will be graduating in the spring. Combined, the seniors have accumulated 207 games played, 159 starts, 363 shots, 14 goals, 18 assists and four game winners.

For the first time this season, the Wildcats are coming off a two-game winning streak. With a 9-2 goals advantage in the last two games, New Hampshire has defeated Binghamton and Vermont to start conference play.
CONFERENCE-PLAY SWEEP
The last instance where UNH was 2-0-0 to begin conference play was in 2008 when they defeated both Binghamton (Sept. 28) and Stony Brook University (Oct. 2) three goals to two.
