Purrier Shines At The Beantown Coast-to-Coast Meet, Women's Cross Country Places Seventh Overall

BOSTON – The University of New Hampshire women's cross country team finished 7th overall (244 points) at the 2014 Beantown Coast-to-Coast Meet on Friday afternoon at Franklin Park.
Sophomore Elinor Purrier (Montgomery, Vt.) finished very strong placing 12th overall with a time 17:21 leading the 'Cats to a top 10 finish. Senior co-captain Anne Twombly (Exeter, N.H.) ran a time of 17:48 placing 32nd overall. Senior co-captain Chelsey Serrano (Manchester, N.H.) was right behind Twombly ran a time of 18:05 and placed 52nd .
Junior Amber Short (Keene, N.H.) and Laura Rose Doengan (Melbourne, Australia) both crossed the finish line with a time of 18 minutes placing 78th and 85th respectively.
The 5K meet featured six nationally-ranked teams and seven top-15 Northeast Region teams. University of Michigan (55), Georgetown University (77) and Syracuse University (134) round out the top three spots at the race.
The Wildcats head back to Franklin Park on Saturday (Oct. 11) to take part in the New England Cross Country Championships at 12:30 p.m.
