UNH Women’s Cross Country Takes Second Place at Vermont Invite

Three Wildcats Place Top Five
St. Albans, VT. – Senior Claire Ronan (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) led the Wildcats with a 2nd-place finish out of 65 as the University of New Hampshire women's cross country team competed in the Vermont Invite 5K race. The team finished in second place (29 points) in the Hard'Ack Recreation Area. Vermont (27 points) finished in first place, while Maine (85 points) was third and UMass Lowell (did not score) was fourth.
RESULTS
"We had a great season opener for women's cross country in Vermont today," Director of Cross Country Anna Magle-Haberek said. "It was great to get to run on the conference course so we are prepared for November. We were very excited to have Coach Alison here for her first competition. Some athlete highlights were Claire Ronan and Jill Walker finishing 2-3 and grad student Gabby DeAngelis finishing 4th in her first cross country race ever."

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Three Wildcats finished in the top five.
- Senior Claire Ronan (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) finished in second place less than five seconds behind Vermont's leader with a time of 18:21.0.
- Junior Jill Walker (Simi Valley, Calif.) placed just behind Ronan with a time of 18:21.3
- Graduate Student Gabrielle DeAngelis (Bedford N.H.) finished at 18:27.3 to place third.
- Four more Wildcats placed in the top 25
- Graduate Student Lily Doody (Lee, N.H.) finished ninth at 18:56.2.
- Freshman Bailey Hall (Yardley, Pa.) placed 12th at 19:00.2.
- Junior Kaitlin Lennox (Hampton Falls, N.H.) crossed the finish line at 19:10.4 for 16th place.
- Sophomore Lauren Boilard (San Fransisco, Calif.) finished 23rd at 19:29.5.
